The invention relates to a method for planning a bracket system ( 1 ) for the correction of malpositions of teeth ( 2 ), comprising a plurality of brackets ( 3 ) and an arch ( 4 ) wherein at least one platelet ( 6 ) per tooth is mounted on certain tooth surfaces ( 5 ) of the teeth to be corrected ( 2 ), a three-dimensional optical image ( 50 ) of the tooth region to be treated is created, the platelets ( 6 ) have registration elements ( 10 ) comprising registration points ( 11 ) and the registration points ( 11 ) have a characteristic form for registration in the three-dimensional optical image ( 50 )

1 - 17 . (canceled) 18 . A method, comprising: determining a position and orientation of a recess in a bonding surface of a bracket based on (i) a position and orientation of a platelet relative to a tooth to which the platelet is attached and (ii) a planned position and orientation of the bracket relative to the tooth to which the platelet is attached, wherein the recess is dimensioned to receive the platelet attached to the tooth, and wherein the position and orientation of the recess in the bonding surface of the bracket is such that when the bracket receives the platelet attached to the tooth, the bracket is positioned and oriented at the planned position and orientation of the bracket relative to the tooth surface. 19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising: generating instructions for milling the recess in the bonding surface of the bracket based on the determined position and orientation of the recess in the bonding surface of the bracket. 20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the position and orientation of the platelet relative to the tooth is represented by three-dimensional data. 21 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the platelet includes a spherical segment protruding from the plane of the platelet and the recess is dimensioned to receive the spherical segment protruding from the plane of the platelet. 22 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the three-dimensional data is a combination of three-dimensional optical image data and three-dimensional radiographic data. 23 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the recess is dimensioned such that a contour of the recess matches a contour of the platelet.
