Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The aspects disclosed herein relate to a tire made of rubbery material having a sidewall and a pattern formed on this sidewall. The tire also includes the pattern having a plurality of protruding elements, with the said protruding elements having the form of spherical-cap portions of radius R, and in that, within the pattern, each protruding element interpenetrates with several adjacent protruding elements so that the distance (d) between a tip of the protruding element and a tip of another adjacent protruding element is less than the diameter (D) of the protruding element.

1 . Tire made of elastomeric material, comprising: a sidewall; and a pattern formed on the sidewall, wherein the pattern includes a plurality of protruding elements, the plurality of protruding elements having a form of spherical-cap portions of radius R, and within the pattern, each of the plurality of protruding elements interpenetrates with several adjacent protruding elements so that a distance (d) between a tip of the respective protruding element and a tip of another adjacent protruding element is less than a diameter (D) of the protruding element. 2 . The tire according to claim 1 , wherein a density of protruding elements within the pattern greater than or equal to 0.2 protruding elements per mm 2 . 3 . The tire according to claim 1 , wherein when viewed in a cross section, all or part of the protruding elements subtend an angle (α) less than or equal to 70°, and the subtended angle corresponds to the angle formed by the spherical-cap portion that makes up the protruding element or elements. 4 . The tire according to claim 1 , wherein the protruding elements are aligned with one another within the pattern. 5 . The tire according to claim 1 , wherein in that all or part of the protruding elements have a surface roughness parameter Ra less than 30 μm. 6 . The tire according to claim 1 , further comprising a housing recessed into the sidewall, wherein the pattern is arranged in the housing. 7 . The tire according to claim 1 , wherein the protruding elements meet at connection zones, with these connection zones being curved and having a blend radius r such that r≦R/3.
