1 .- 20 . (canceled) 21 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising a protein comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 90% identity with SEQ ID NO: 2, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. 22 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the protein binds Vitamin B 12 . 23 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the protein binds Vitamin B 12 with an affinity less than 10 −5 M. 24 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the composition is a liquid, solid, cream, or paste. 25 . A method of treating a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of the composition of claim 21 . 26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the composition is administered topically or orally to the subject. 27 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the composition is administered non-parenterally to the subject. 28 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the protein binds Vitamin B 12 with an affinity from about 10 −5 M to about 10 −12 M. 29 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the composition, when administered to a subject, is capable of reducing the growth and/or proliferation of a microorganism in or on the subject. 30 . The composition of claim 21 , wherein the protein comprises from about 0.1% (w/w) to about 90% (w/w) of the pharmaceutical composition. 31 . The composition of claim 30 , wherein the protein comprises from about 0.5% (w/w) to about 30% (w/w) of the pharmaceutical composition.
