Abstract

Information indicating a period, or a number of captured images to generate a panoramic image produced by a plurality of captured images is obtained. Information indicating a range in accordance with the obtained information is displayed. The range indicated by the displayed information is included in a capable range in which an image capturing device can perform image capturing to obtain the plurality of captured images for generating the panoramic image.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . A display control apparatus comprising:
an obtaining unit configured to obtain information indicating a period, or a number of captured images to generate a panoramic image produced by a plurality of captured images; and a display control unit configured to display, by a display unit, information indicating a range in accordance with the information obtained by the obtaining unit, wherein the range indicated by the displayed information is included in a capable range in which an image capturing device can perform image capturing to obtain the plurality of captured images for generating the panoramic image.

2 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the information indicating the range in accordance with the information obtained by the obtaining unit is information indicating a captured range of the panoramic image which can be generated by the period or number of captured images.

3 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the display control unit displays, by the display unit, a generated panoramic image corresponding to the capable range of the image capturing device.

The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, in a case when capturing a first range by the image capturing device and obtaining the information indicating the period or number of captured images by the obtaining unit, the display control unit displays, by the display unit, information indicating the range centered on the first range, in accordance with the information obtained by obtaining unit.

5 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a calculation unit configured to calculate the range in accordance with the information obtained by the obtaining unit, based on an angle of view of the image capturing device.

6 . The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a generation unit configured to generate the panoramic image corresponding to the range in accordance with the information obtained by the obtaining unit.

7 . A display control apparatus comprising:
an obtaining unit configured to obtain information designating a partial range in a capable range in which an image capturing device capable of changing an imaging direction can perform image capturing; and a display control unit configured to display, by a display unit, information indicating a period or number of captured images for generating a panoramic image corresponding to a range, which is indicated by the information obtained by the obtaining unit, using a plurality of captured images obtained by the image capturing device.

8 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the partial range is designated by first coordinates and second coordinates in the capable range of the image capturing device.

9 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the capable range of an image capturing device capable of obtaining a captured image for generating the panoramic image is indicated by a generated panoramic image.

10 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising a calculation unit configured to calculate the period or number of captured images based on an angle of view of the image capturing device.

11 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising a generation unit configured to generate a panoramic image corresponding to the partial range.

12 . An image processing apparatus comprising:
an control unit configured to control an image capturing device for changing an imaging direction of the image capturing device, and to control the image capturing device for obtaining a plurality of captured images, the imaging direction of each captured image being different from each other; and a generation unit configured to generate, in a case when changing the imaging direction of the image capturing device and inputting a predetermined instruction, a panoramic image using captured images obtained by the image capturing device until the input of the predetermined instruction.

13 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein, by the control of the control unit, the change of the imaging direction of the image capturing device is started from a first imaging direction, and a captured range by the image capturing device spreads around the first imaging direction.

14 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , further comprising a display control unit configured to display the change of the imaging direction of the image capturing device by a display unit.

15 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the control unit can resume the generation of the panoramic image after the generation of the panoramic image by the generation unit is suspended.

16 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the control unit starts the control for changing the imaging direction of the image capturing device in accordance with a user input.

17 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the predetermined instruction is inputted by a user.

18 . A display control method comprising:
using a processor to perform: obtaining information indicating a period, or a number of captured images to generate a panoramic image produced by a plurality of captured images; and displaying, by a display unit, information indicating a range in accordance with the obtained information, wherein the range indicated by the displayed information is included in a capable range in which an image capturing device can perform image capturing to obtain the plurality of captured images for generating the panoramic image.

19 . A display control method comprising:
using a processor to perform: obtaining information designating a partial range of a capable range in which an image capturing device capable of changing an imaging direction can perform image capturing; and displaying, by a display unit, information indicating a period or number of captured images for generating a panoramic image corresponding to a range, which is indicated by the obtained information, using a plurality of captured images obtained by the image capturing device.

20 . An image processing method comprising:
using a processor to perform: controlling an image capturing device for changing an imaging direction of the image capturing device; controlling the image capturing device for obtaining a plurality of captured images, the imaging direction of each captured image being different from each other; and generating, in a case when changing the imaging direction of the image capturing device and inputting a predetermined instruction, a panoramic image using captured images obtained by the image capturing device until the input of the predetermined instruction.
