Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An image pickup apparatus capable of communicating with an external apparatus includes an image capturing unit, a superimposing unit, and a control unit. The image capturing unit captures an image of a subject to generate a captured image. The superimposing unit superimposes first information and second information on the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit. The control unit rotates the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit in a state in which a position of the first information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to a position of the subject is changed while a position of the second information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to the position of the subject is kept unchanged.

First claim

1 . An image pickup apparatus capable of communicating with an external apparatus, the image pickup apparatus comprising: an image capturing unit configured to capture an image of a subject to generate a captured image; a superimposing unit configured to superimpose first information and second information on the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit; and a control unit configured to rotate the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit in a state in which a position of the first information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to a position of the subject is changed while a position of the second information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to the position of the subject is kept unchanged. 2 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the first information includes character information. 3 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the character information includes a date when the image capturing unit captures the image of the subject. 4 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the second information includes a privacy mask image with which a certain area in the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit is masked. 5 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 4 , further comprising: a detecting unit configured to detect the subject from the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit; a storing unit configured to store a coordinate representing a position of the subject detected by the detecting unit; and a determining unit configured to determine the position of the second information superimposed by the superimposing unit, in accordance with the position of the subject detected by the detecting unit, wherein, when the control unit rotates the captured image supplied form the image capturing unit, the control unit updates the position of the second information determined by the determining unit. 6 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 5 , further comprising: a first receiving unit configured to receive a rotation instruction to rotate the captured image from the external apparatus; a second receiving unit configured to receive a designation information to designate the position of the first information and the second information superimposed by the superimposing unit; and a transmitting unit configured to transmit the position of the second information determined by the determining unit to the external apparatus. 7 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the coordinate representing the position of the subject further includes a range of the subject detected by the detecting unit. 8 . The image pickup apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein when the control unit rotates the captured image supplied form the image capturing unit, the control unit updates a range of the second information determined by the determining unit. 9 . An image capturing system comprising: an external apparatus; and an image pickup apparatus that includes an image capturing unit configured to capture an image of a subject to generate a captured image and that is capable of communicating with the external apparatus, wherein the external apparatus includes a transmitting unit configured to transmit a rotation instruction to rotate the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit to the image pickup apparatus, and wherein the image pickup apparatus includes a superimposing unit configured to superimpose first information and second information on the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit and a control unit configured to rotate, upon transmission of the rotation instruction by the transmitting unit, the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit in a state in which a position of the first information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to a position of the subject is changed while a position of the second information superimposed by the superimposing unit relative to the position of the subject is kept unchanged. 10 . A method of controlling an image pickup apparatus capable of communicating with an external apparatus, the method comprising: capturing, via an image capturing unit, an image of a subject to generate a captured image; superimposing first information and second information on the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit; and rotating the captured image supplied from the image capturing unit in a state in which a position of the superimposed first information relative to a position of the subject is changed while a position of the superimposed second information relative to the position of the subject is kept unchanged. 11 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer-executable program causing an image pickup apparatus to perform the method according to claim 10 .
