Official abstract text for this publication.
The present disclosure provides a detailed description of techniques used in systems, methods, and in computer program products for bi-directional social media broker services that connect multiple social media sites using a common management framework. The claimed embodiments address the problem of efficiently scaling and managing bidirectional interaction with multiple social media publishing channels. More specifically, the claimed embodiments are directed to approaches for a computing platform having multiple message broker modules that enable bi-directional communication of messages between a common resource manager and a plurality of social media sites. The message broker modules can receive messages in a unified message format from the common resource manager, queue the messages for asynchronous processing, translate the messages from the unified message format to a site-specific format, and deliver the translated messages to multiple social media sites.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising: brokering, in a first direction from a social resource management application to one or more social media sites, by receiving one or more first electronic messages over a network in a first format, and converting the one or more messages from the first format to a second format to generate a first converted message that is delivered to a first social media site; brokering, in a second direction from the one or more social media sites to the social resource management application, by receiving from the first social media site at least one second electronic message comprising social media data fields, wherein at least one of the social media data fields is in response to the first converted message; and converting the one or more first electronic messages from the first format to a third format to generate a second converted message, and delivering the second converted message to a second social media site. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the social media data fields include any of a “like” indication, a “plus” indication, a “retweet” indication, a “share” indication, or a “vote” indication, or any combination thereof. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first electronic messages and the at least one second electronic message uses JavaScript Object Notation. 4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising converting the at least one second electronic message from the second format to the first format that is delivered to the social resource management application. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second format is a format that is specific to the first social site. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second electronic message is received in the second format and is converted into the first format. 7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising queuing at least one of the one or more first converted message. 8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising queuing at least one second electronic message. 9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing a secure connection to communicate the one or more first electronic messages. 10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing a second secure connection to communicate the one or more second electronic message. 11 . A computer program product, embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium, the computer readable medium having stored thereon a sequence of instructions which, when executed by a processor causes the processor to execute a process, the process comprising: brokering, in a first direction from a social resource management application to one or more social media sites, by receiving one or more first electronic messages over a network in a first format, and converting the one or more messages from the first format to a second format to generate a first converted message that is delivered to a first social media site; and brokering, in a second direction from the one or more social media sites to the social resource management application, by receiving from the first social media site at least one second electronic message comprising social media data fields, wherein at least one of the social media data fields is in response to the first converted message. 12 . The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the social media data fields include any of a “like” indication, a “plus” indication, a “retweet” indication, a “share” indication, or a “vote” indication, or any combination thereof. 13 . The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first electronic messages and the at least one second electronic message uses JavaScript Object Notation. 14 . The computer program product of claim 11 , further comprising instructions for converting the at least one second electronic message from the second format to the first format that is delivered to the social resource management application. 15 . The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the second format is a format that is specific to the first social site. 16 . The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the at least one second electronic message is received in the second format and is converted into the first format. 17 . The computer program product of claim 11 , further comprising instructions for queuing at least one of the one or more first converted messages. 18 . The computer program product of claim 11 , further comprising instructions for queuing at least one second electronic message. 19 . A system for bi-directional brokering for social relationship management comprising: a message translation module for brokering, in a first direction from a social resource management application to one or more social media sites, by receiving one or more first electronic messages over a network in a first format, and converting the one or more messages from the first format to a second format to generate a first converted message that is delivered to a first social media site; and a message processing module for brokering, in a second direction from the one or more social media sites to the social resource management application, by receiving from the first social media site at least one second electronic message comprising social media data fields, wherein at least one of the social media data fields is in response to the first converted message. 20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the social media data fields include any of a “like” indication, a “plus” indication, a “retweet” indication, a “share” indication, or a “vote” indication, or any combination thereof.
