The invention provides a cutting valve comprising a valve block, a gate, which is slidably within a cavity in the valve block from an open position to a closing and cutting position, an upper seat arranged in an upper part of the valve between the valve block and the gate, and a lower seat arranged in a lower part of the valve between the valve block and the gate, The valve further comprises an upper resilient member arranged between the upper seat and a lower resilient member arranged between the valve block and the lower seat. The cutting valve being distinctive in that the combination of height of upper seat, and lower seat, resilient member and any spacers on the lower side of the gate is selected so that an allowed travelling distance for the upper seat towards the valve block and an allowed travelling distance for the lower seat towards the valve block, are substantially equal.

1 . A cutting valve ( 1 ) comprising an valve block ( 2 ) and a gate ( 5 ), which is slidably horizontally within a cavity ( 3 ) in the valve block ( 2 ) from an open position to a closing and cutting position, an upper seat ( 6 a ) arranged in a upper part of the valve ( 1 ) between the valve block ( 2 ) and the gate ( 5 ), and a lower seat ( 6 b ) arranged in a lower part of the valve ( 1 ) between the valve block ( 2 ) and the gate ( 5 ), an upper resilient member ( 8 a; 18 a; 28 a; 38 a ) arranged between the valve block ( 2 ) and the upper seat ( 6 a ) and a lower resilient member ( 8 b; 18 b; 28 b; 38 b ) arranged between the valve block ( 2 ) and the lower seat ( 6 b ), characterised in that the combination of height of upper seat ( 6 a ), and lower seat ( 6 b ), resilient member ( 8 a; 8 b; 18 a; 18 b; 28 a; 28 b; 38 a; 38 b ) and any spacers ( 30 ) on the lower side of the gate ( 5 ) is selected so that an allowed travelling distance (gap 9 a ) for the upper seat ( 6 a ) towards the valve block ( 2 ) and an allowed travelling distance (gap 9 b ) for the lower seat ( 6 b ) towards the valve block ( 2 ), are substantially equal. 2 . A cutting valve according to claim 1 , wherein the resilient members comprising at least one upper spring 18 a, and at least one lower spring 18 b, said upper spring attached to the upper seat ( 6 a ) and said lower spring 18 b attached to the lower seat ( 6 b ), the lower spring ( 18 b ) having a higher elasticity module than the upper spring ( 18 a ). 3 . A cutting valve according to claim 1 or 2 , wherein the spacers comprises at least one shim ( 30 ) 4 . A cutting valve according to claim 3 , wherein at least one shim ( 30 ) is arranged between the lower resilient member ( 8 b ) and the valve block ( 2 ). 5 . A cutting valve according to claim 3 , wherein at least one shim ( 31 ) is arranged between the lower seat ( 6 b ) and the lower resilient member ( 8 b ). 6 . A cutting device according to any of the claims 1 - 5 , wherein a spring pocket 28 b for the lower seat is smaller than the spring pocket 28 a for the upper seat 6 a. 7 . A cutting device according to any one of the claims 1 - 6 , wherein cutting edges ( 10 a, 10 b ) forming an integral part of the gate ( 5 ). 8 . Use of a cutting valve according to any one of the claims 1 - 7 , for cutting a wire line and seal the well under emergency conditions.
