A surgical instrument having a first member engageable with a first end of a fastener having a second end configured to penetrate tissue. A second member includes an expandable member configured for engaging the first end. Systems and methods are disclosed.

What is claimed is: 1 . A surgical instrument comprising: a first member being engageable with a first end of a fastener having a second end configured to penetrate tissue; and a second member including an expandable member configured for engaging the first end. 2 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first end includes a spherical shape. 3 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second member includes a flexible collet configured to snap around the first end. 4 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a third member coupled with the second member, the second and third members being configured to translate relative to each other between a first position and a second position. 5 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 4 , wherein the third member is configured to lock the first member in a closed position. 6 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 further including a retaining cap configured to apply a force to form a compression fit between the first end and the second member. 7 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a third member having a tip defining a cavity for disposal of the first end and including a hard stop configured to prevent the fastener from penetrating into tissue beyond a selected limit. 8 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a third member having a tip defining a reamer end surface configured to bore a path about the first end. 9 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 8 , wherein the reamer end surface includes a plurality of teeth. 10 . A surgical instrument as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second member includes a flexible collet engageable by a third member between a first position and a second position.
