The invention provides for methods for treating a hair loss disorder in a subject by administering a Janus Kinase/Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription inhibitor.

What is claimed: 1 . A method of treating a hair-loss disorder in a mammalian subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of an inhibitor of Janus Kinase (Jak)1, Jak2, or Jak3, wherein said inhibitor is VX-509. 2 . A method for inducing hair growth in a subject, the method comprising: (a) administering to the subject an effective amount of a Jak1, Jak2, or Jak3 inhibitor, wherein said inhibitor is VX-509, thereby inducing hair growth in the subject. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the hair-loss disorder comprises androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, tinea capitis, hypotrichosis, or hereditary hypotrichosis simplex. 4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the alopecia areata is alopecia totalis or alopecia universalis. 5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the subject suffers from a hair-loss disorder, wherein the hair-loss disorder is selected from—androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, tinea capitis, hypotrichosis, and hereditary hypotrichosis simplex. 6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the alopecia areata is alopecia totalis or alopecia universalis. 7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the hair loss-disorder is androgenetic alopecia. 8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the hair loss-disorder is alopecia areata. 9 . The method of claim 5 wherein the hair loss-disorder is androgenetic alopecia. 10 . The method of claim 5 wherein the hair loss-disorder is alopecia areata.
