Provided herein are systems, methods, and software for facilitating message sessions. In one implementation, a notification is received relating to a message submitted for delivery on behalf of a sender to a recipient. The message includes several components. At least one delivery policy is identified based on the content identified in at least one of the components. Delivery of the message is initiated according to the delivery policy.

What is claimed is: 1 . A computing system for handling emails comprising: a sending server that receives requests from email clients to send an email, identifies an intermediate environment through which to route the email, and sends the email to the intermediate environment; and an intermediate server in the intermediate environment that receives the email, queries a mail exchanger record to identify routing information for the email, and sends the email to a recipient system using the routing information. 2 . The computing system of claim 1 wherein the intermediate server comprises an archive server that performs an archive operation on the email before sending the email to the recipient system. 3 . The computing system of claim 1 wherein the intermediate server comprises a security server that performs a security operation on the email before sending the email to the recipient system. 4 . A method of operating an email service comprising: in a sending server that receives requests from email clients to send an email, identifying an intermediate environment through which to route the email and sending the email to the intermediate environment; and in an intermediate server in the intermediate environment that receives the email, querying a mail exchanger record to identify routing information for the email and sending the email to a recipient system using the routing information. 5 . The method of claim 4 wherein the intermediate server comprises an archive server. 6 . The method of claim 5 further comprising, in the archive server, performing an archive operation on the email before sending the email to the recipient system. 7 . The method of claim 4 wherein the intermediate server comprises a security server. 8 . The method of claim 7 further comprising, in the security server, performing a security operation on the email before sending the email to the recipient system.
