An apparatus includes a motor and a drum rotated by the motor to draw in or let out a line from the drum. The drum includes a groove formed in an outer surface thereof to accommodate the line. In certain embodiments, the motor and drum are quickly and easily detachable from a structure by way of a flange and mounting bracket. The flange and mounting bracket have holes which are coaxially aligned. A pin or other fastener is used to join the flange and mounting bracket together.

1 . An apparatus comprising: a motor; a drum rotated by the motor to draw in or let out a line from the drum, the drum comprising a groove formed in an outer surface thereof to accommodate the line; a guide tracking and extending into the groove immediately over the line in order to push the line into the groove; and a flange for mounting the motor and the drum to a structure. 2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a mounting bracket. 3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the flange is connected to the mounting bracket allowing quick and easy mounting and dismounting of the motor and the drum from the structure. 4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the flange and the mounting bracket have holes which are coaxial. 5 . The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the flange is attached to the mounting bracket with a pin, bolt, or other fastener through the holes. 6 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the mounting bracket is attached to one of a stud, joist, ceiling, wall, or structural member. 7 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the mounting bracket is attached across several studs, joists, or structural members. 8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the guide is a wheel or a bearing. 9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the guide is a passive guide with teeth. 10 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the roller or bearing passively tracks the groove. 11 . A method comprising: mounting a drum to a structure using a flange; rotating the drum to draw in or let out a line, the drum comprising a groove formed in an outer surface thereof to accommodate the line; and pushing the line into the groove with a guide which tracks and extends into the groove. 12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein a mounting bracket is located between the flange and the structure. 13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the flange is connected to the mounting bracket allowing quick and easy mounting and dismounting of the drum from the structure. 14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the flange and the mounting bracket have holes which are coaxial. 15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the flange is attached to the mounting bracket with a pin, bolt, or other fastener through the holes. 16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the mounting bracket is attached to one of a stud, joist, ceiling, wall, or structural member. 17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the mounting bracket is attached across several studs, joists, or structural members. 18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the guide is a wheel or a bearing. 19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the guide is a passive guide with teeth. 20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the roller or bearing passively tracks the groove.
