Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure relates to a method and device for assisting a user for capturing an image. In an embodiment, an image is focused by a user of an image capturing device. The image capturing device extracts one or more features from the image being focused. The extracted features are classified into significant features and background features. The image capturing device also extracts one or more line segments in the image. Upon extracting the features and the line segments, the image capturing device determines relation between the features and the line segments. The image capturing device provides assistance to the user for capturing the image based on the relation.

First claim

1 . A method for assisting a user to capture images, the method comprising: extracting, by an image capturing device, one or more features from an image being focused, wherein the image is displayed on a display unit of the image capturing device; extracting, by the image capturing device, one or more line segments in the image based on vectorization of the image; determining, by the image capturing device, a relation between the one or more features and the one or more line segments extracted from the image; and providing, by the image capturing device, assistance for capturing the image based on the relation. 2 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein providing the assistance further comprises generating at least one of an audio notification and visual notification instructing the user to perform one or more actions, wherein the one or more actions comprise at least one of altering orientation of the image capturing device, aligning the target features with the one or more line segments and indicating the one or more features in the image which are out of focus. 3 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the one or more features are classified into background features and target features. 4 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the one or more line segments are at least one of horizontal lines, vertical lines, converging lines and leading lines. 5 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the one or more line segments are highlighted and displayed on the display unit. 6 . An image capturing device for assisting a user to capture images, comprising: a processor; and a memory communicatively coupled to the processor, wherein the memory stores processor-executable instructions, which, on execution, causes the processor to: extract one or more features from an image being focused, wherein the image is displayed on a display unit of the image capturing device; extract one or more line segments in the image based on vectorization of the image; determine a relation between the one or more features and the one or more line segments extracted from the image; and provide assistance for capturing the image based on the relation. 7 . The image capturing device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the instructions further configure the at least one processor to provide the assistance by generating at least one of an audio notification and visual notification instructing the user to perform one or more actions, wherein the one or more actions comprise at least one of altering orientation of the image capturing device, aligning the target features with the one or more line segments and indicating the one or more features in the image which are out of focus. 8 . The image capturing device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the instructions configure the at least one processor to classify the one or more features in the image into background features and target features. 9 . The image capturing device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the one or more line segments are at least one of horizontal lines, vertical lines, converging lines and leading lines. 10 . The image capturing device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the instructions configure the at least one processor to highlight the one or more line segments and display on the display unit. 11 . A non-transitory computer readable medium including instructions stored thereon that when processed by at least one processor cause an image capturing device to perform operations comprising: extracting one or more features from an image being focused, wherein the image is displayed on a display unit of the image capturing device; extracting one or more line segments in the image based on vectorization of the image; determining a relation between the one or more features and the extracted one or more line segments from the image; and providing assistance for capturing the image based on the relation. 12 . The medium as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to provide the assistance by generating at least one of an audio notification and visual notification instructing the user to perform one or more actions, wherein the one or more actions comprise at least one of altering orientation of the image capturing device, aligning the target features with the one or more line segments and indicating the one or more features in the image which are out of focus. 13 . The medium as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to classify the one or more features in the image into background features and target features. 14 . The medium as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the one or more line segments are at least one of horizontal lines, vertical lines, converging lines and leading lines. 15 . The medium as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to highlight the one or more line segments and display on the display unit.
