Suggested is an active mixture comprising (a) 1,2-hexanediol and (b) 1,2-octanediol.

A cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising an active mixture comprising (a) 1,2-hexanediol and (b) 1,2-octanediol, wherein the composition is an oil-in-water (o/w) emulsion, a water-in-oil (w/o) emulsion or a multiple (w/o/w or o/w/o) emulsion with an average particle size wherein (i) 10 Vol.-% show a diameter of less than 2 μm, (ii) 50 Vol.-% show a diameter of less than 5 μm, and (iii) 90 Vol.-% show a diameter of less than 15 μm. 2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said components (a) and (b) are present in a ratio by weight of from about 25:75 to about 75:25. 3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said components (a) and (b) are present in a ratio by weight of from about 40:60 to about 60:40. 4 - 5 . (canceled) 6 .
