Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A user receiving device including at least one transceiver module, an output module, and a control module. The at least one transceiver module is configured to receive a file from a first backend device. The file indicates where in a video an object is shown. The output module is configured to playout the video on a display. The display is connected to the user receiving device. The control module is configured to monitor data in the file while the video is being played out to detect the object, and generate a signal to indicate on the display that the object is purchasable.

First claim

1 . A system comprising: a user receiving device comprising at least one transceiver module configured to receive a file from a first backend device, wherein the file indicates where in a video an object is shown; a customer database disposed within the first backend device storing shipping data and payment data; said user receiving device further comprising an output module configured to playout the video on a display, wherein the display is connected to the user receiving device; and a control module of the user receiving device configured to monitor data in the file while the video is being played out to detect the object, and generate a signal to indicate on the display that the object is purchasable from a product provider; said customer database configured to communicate shipping data and payment data from the customer database at the first backend device to the product provider after a purchase selection is made. 2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive the video with the file. 3 . The user receiving device system of claim 1 , wherein the object is a product or refers to a service. 4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control module is configured to display a banner on the display via the output module indicting the object is purchasable. 5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control module is configured to display transaction buttons on the display via the output module to allow a viewer to inquire about or purchase the object. 6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein: the at least one transceiver module is configured to, based on the signal, receive a response signal from a mobile device, wherein the response signal indicates that a viewer is interested in the object; the control module is configured to, based on the response signal, access a website for the object based on a uniform resource locator and display the website on the display; and the file includes the uniform resource locator. 7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein: the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive a second signal from a mobile device; the second signal indicates that a viewer is interested in the object; and the control module is configured to open a dialogue window on the display to facilitate a transaction between the viewer and the first backend device or a second backend device. 8 . The system of claim 7 , further comprising a transaction module configured to transfer viewer specific information between the user receiving device and the first backend device or the second backend device to complete and confirm the transaction between the viewer and the first backend device or the second backend device. 9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein: the control module is configured to display a guide on the display and display a plurality of offer indicators for a respective plurality of programs in the guide; the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive a third signal from a mobile device; the third signal corresponds to one of the plurality of offer indicators; and the control module is configured to open a dialogue window based on the third signal to provide information about the object to a viewer or to facilitate a transaction for the object between the viewer and the first backend device or a second backend device. 10 . A system comprising: the user receiving device of claim 1 ; and the backend device. 11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the backend device is configured to: receive and analyze the video to detect the object shown in an image of the video; generate metadata for the object; store the metadata; and transmit the video and the metadata to the user receiving device. 12 . A user receiving device comprising: at least one transceiver module configured to receiving a shopping program from a first backend device; an output module configured to display the shopping program on a display, wherein the display is connected to the user receiving device; and a control module is configured to perform image recognition on images of the shopping program to detect an object for sale and enable purchasing of the object via the user receiving device, wherein the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive a request signal from a mobile device, and wherein the control module is configured to, based on the request signal, facilitate a transaction for the object between a viewer of the mobile device and the first backend device or a second backend device. 13 . The user receiving device of claim 12 , wherein the object is a product or refers to a service. 14 . The user receiving device of claim 12 , wherein: the control module is configured to enable display of a transaction button based on a result of the image recognition; and the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive the request signal based on the viewer clicking on the transaction button. 15 . The user receiving device of claim 12 , wherein the at least one transceiver module is configured to receive the request signal based on the viewer clicking on a button on the mobile device or performing a swipe gesture on the mobile device. 16 . The user receiving device of claim 12 , wherein the control module is configured to access a website for the object based on the request signal. 17 . The user receiving device of claim 12 , wherein: the control module is configured to, based on the request signal, open a dialogue window on the display while maintaining display of the shopping program on the display; the dialogue window includes information pertaining to the object and includes a confirmation button; and the confirmation button is for confirming a transaction for the object between the viewer and the first backend device or the second backend device. 18 . A method of operating a system comprising: storing shipping data and payment data in a customer database of a first backend device; receiving a file from the first backend device at a user receiving device, wherein the file indicates where in a video an object is shown; playing out the video on a display, wherein the display is connected to the user receiving device; monitoring data in the file while the video is being played out to detect the object; and generating a signal to indicate on the display that the object is purchasable from a product provider; communicating shipping data and payment data from the customer provider database at the first backend device to the product provider after a purchase is made. 19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising receiving the video with the file at the user receiving device. 20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the object is a product or refers to a service. 21 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising displaying a banner on the display indicting the object is purchasable. 22 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising displaying transaction buttons on the display to allow a viewer to inquire about or purchase the object. 23 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising: based on the signal, receiving a response signal from a mobile device, wherein the response signal indicates that a viewer is interested in the object; and based on the response signal, accessing a website for the object based on a uniform resource locator and displaying the website on the display, wherein the file includes the uniform resource loc
