Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A content delivery network includes an overlay network having a plurality of cache servers. Each cache server configured to receive a request from a personal content server to register with the content delivery network, receive a request from a mobile capture device to establish communication with the personal content server, and establish a communication path through the overlay network between the mobile capture device and the personal content server. Each cache server is further configured to transfer content from the mobile capture device along the communication path to the personal content server.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method, comprising: facilitating establishing, by a system including a processor, a first communication path through an overlay network between a mobile device and customer premises equipment, the customer premises equipment being registered with a content delivery network based on a first electronic serial number, the mobile device being registered with the content delivery network based on a second electronic serial number; verifying, by the system, that incoming content is authorized based on encryption keys exchanged with the mobile device; selectively transferring, by the system, the content from the mobile device along the first communication path to the customer premises equipment; facilitating establishing, by the system, a second communication path through the overlay network between the mobile device and the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that the first communication path is overloaded; and transferring, by the system, the content from the mobile device along the second communication path to the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that bandwidth is limited, wherein the content is captured by the mobile device when the bandwidth is insufficient for a real-time stream, and wherein the content is formatted by the mobile device based on capabilities of an available display device. 2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: providing, by the system, the mobile device with a list of the capabilities of the available display device, wherein the determination that the bandwidth is limited is made in conjunction with the list of the capabilities. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the list of the capabilities includes a resolution associated with the available display device. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the customer premises equipment provides the content to a digital picture frame and one of a set-top box, a television, a stereo system, personal computer, and a laptop. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the mobile device is selected from a group consisting of a video camera, digital camera, and digital audio recorder. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the content is transferred along the second communication path without being stored by the content delivery network. 7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising maintaining, by the system, a list of mobile devices authorized to provide the content to the customer premises equipment. 8 . A system comprising: a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising: facilitating establishing a first communication path through an overlay network between a mobile device and customer premises equipment, the customer premises equipment and the mobile device being registered with a content delivery network; verifying that incoming content is authorized based on encryption keys exchanged with the mobile device, the first communication path being selectively utilized for transferring the content from the mobile device to the customer premises equipment; facilitating establishing a second communication path through the overlay network between the mobile device and the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that the first communication path is overloaded; and transferring the content from the mobile device along the second communication path to the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that bandwidth is limited, wherein the content is captured by the mobile device responsive to a determination that the bandwidth is insufficient for a real-time stream. 9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the content is formatted by the mobile device based on capabilities of an available display device. 10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: providing the mobile device with a list of the capabilities of the available display device, wherein the determination that the bandwidth is limited is made in conjunction with the list of the capabilities. 11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the list of the capabilities includes a resolution associated with the available display device. 12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the customer premises equipment provides the content to a digital picture frame and one of a set-top box, a television, a stereo system, personal computer, and a laptop. 13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the mobile device is selected from a group consisting of a video camera, digital camera, and digital audio recorder. 14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the content is transferred along the second communication path without being stored by the content delivery network. 15 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise maintaining a list of mobile devices authorized to provide the content to the customer premises equipment. 16 . A machine-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions which, responsive to being executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations comprising: facilitating establishing a first communication path through an overlay network between a mobile device and customer premises equipment, the customer premises equipment and the mobile device being registered with a content delivery network; verifying that incoming content is authorized based on encryption keys exchanged with the mobile device, the first communication path being selectively utilized for transferring the content from the mobile device to the customer premises equipment; providing the mobile device with a list of capabilities of an available display device; facilitating establishing a second communication path through the overlay network between the mobile device and the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that the first communication path is overloaded; and transferring the content from the mobile device along the second communication path to the customer premises equipment responsive to a determination that bandwidth is limited, wherein the determination that the bandwidth is limited is made in conjunction with the list of the capabilities, and wherein the content is formatted by the mobile device based on the capabilities of the available display device. 17 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the content is captured by the mobile device responsive to a determination that the bandwidth is insufficient for a real-time stream. 18 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise maintaining a list of mobile devices authorized to provide the content to the customer premises equipment. 19 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the content is transferred along the second communication path without being stored by the content delivery network. 20 . The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the list of capabilities includes a resolution associated with the available display device.
