Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The primary washing power of washing and cleaning agents was to be improved, in particular with respect to oil- and/or fat-containing stains. This was achieved substantially by the incorporation of polymers having an aggregation parameter X ag where X ag >1 mN/m.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for selecting polymers for washing agents comprising the steps of: a. determining the aggregation parameter X ag of polymers obtainable by polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds, b. selecting the polymer for use in washing agents when the polymers have an aggregation parameter X ag where X ag >1 mN/m. 2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer has an aggregation parameter X ag where X ag >4 mN/m. 3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polymers are selected from the group of polymers consisting of polymers accessible by polymerization of N-vinylcaprolactam, N-vinylpyrrolidone, N-vinylpiperidone, N-vinylsuccinimide, N-vinylglutarimide, N-vinylacetamide, N-alkyl-N-vinylacetamide, N-vinylformamide, N-alkyl-N-vinylformamide, and mixtures thereof. 4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polymers are copolymers, that comprises two monomers, of which the monomer representing the smaller portion is in particular N-vinylcaprolactam, at a weight ratio from 99:1 to 1:99. 5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polymers have an average molecular weight in the range from 1000 g/mol to 500,000 g/mol. 6 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the washing agents contains the polymers in quantities from 0.2 wt % to 10 wt %.
