Abstract

An image processing apparatus is provided to receive from an information processing apparatus, a document scan/transmission job for causing the reading unit to read a document to generate image data and transmit the image data to a specified destination, in a case where the document scan/transmission job is received. The image processing apparatus determines whether authentication information of a user of the information processing apparatus and authentication information of a user of the image processing apparatus match each other, in a case where the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus match each other, displays a setting screen for receiving a setting regarding execution of the document scan/transmission job, and executes the document scan/transmission job according to an instruction received through the displayed setting screen.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . An image processing apparatus for reading a document to generate image data, using a reading unit, the image processing apparatus comprising:
a reception unit configured to receive, from an information processing apparatus capable of communicating with the image processing apparatus via a network, a document scan/transmission job for causing the reading unit to read a document to generate image data and transmitting the image data to a specified destination; a determination unit configured to, in a case where the reception unit receives the document scan/transmission job, determine whether authentication information of a user of the information processing apparatus and authentication information of a user of the image processing apparatus match each other; a setting screen display unit configured to, in a case where the determination unit determines that the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus match each other, display a setting screen for receiving a setting regarding execution of the document scan/transmission job; and an execution unit configured to execute the document scan/transmission job according to an instruction received through the setting screen displayed by the setting screen display unit.

2 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the reception unit receives the document scan/transmission job to which the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus is added, and
wherein in a case where the document scan/transmission job is received, the determination unit determines whether the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus added to the document scan/transmission job and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus match each other.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a standby screen display unit configured to display a standby screen in a case where the user of the image processing apparatus is authenticated after the document scan/transmission job is received, and in a case where the determination unit determines that the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus do not match each other.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a holding unit configured to, in a case where the user of the image processing apparatus is authenticated before the document scan/transmission job is received, and in a case where the determination unit determines that the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus do not match each other, hold the document scan/transmission job in a state of standing by for its execution.

5 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the reception unit receives from the information processing apparatus at least either the document scan/transmission job or a transmission job including image data, and
wherein in a case where the reception unit receives the transmission job, the execution unit executes the transmission job and transmits the image data to a specified destination, regardless of whether a user is authenticated in the image processing apparatus.

6 . The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the setting screen display unit displays the setting screen for receiving a setting regarding the reading of a document by the reading unit involved in the execution of the document scan/transmission job.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a selection screen display unit configured to, in a case where a user is not authenticated in the image processing apparatus, display a selection screen for allowing the user to select whether to execute the document scan/transmission job received by the reception unit,
wherein the execution unit executes processing regarding an instruction received through the selection screen.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the selection screen display unit displays the selection screen for receiving an instruction regarding whether to execute the document scan/transmission job or hold the document scan/transmission job without executing the document scan/transmission job.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising a measurement unit configured to, in a case where the instruction to hold the document scan/transmission job without executing the document scan/transmission job is received through the selection screen, measure an elapsed time since the instruction is received,
wherein in a case where the elapsed time measured by the measurement unit reaches a predetermined time, the selection screen display unit displays the selection screen again.

10 . An image processing method to be executed by an image processing apparatus for reading a document to generate image data, using a reading unit, the image processing method comprising:
receiving, from an information processing apparatus capable of communicating with the image processing apparatus via a network, a document scan/transmission job for causing the reading unit to read a document to generate image data and transmitting the image data to a specified destination; in a case where the document scan/transmission job is received in the receiving, determining whether authentication information of a user of the information processing apparatus and authentication information of a user of the image processing apparatus match each other; in a case where it is determined in the determining that the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the image processing apparatus match each other, displaying a setting screen for receiving a setting regarding execution of the document scan/transmission job; and executing the document scan/transmission job according to an instruction received through the displayed setting screen.

11 . A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method comprising:
receiving, from an information processing apparatus capable of communicating via a network, a document scan/transmission job for causing a reading unit to read a document to generate image data and transmitting the image data to a specified destination; in a case where the document scan/transmission job is received in the receiving, determining whether authentication information of a user of the information processing apparatus and authentication information of a user of the computer match each other; in a case where it is determined in the determining that the authentication information of the user of the information processing apparatus and the authentication information of the user of the computer match each other, displaying a setting screen for receiving a setting regarding execution of the document scan/transmission job; and executing the document scan/transmission job according to an instruction received through the displayed setting screen.
