Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A sample deck and display system is provided. The sample deck display system may include a sample deck having multiple covering samples. The sample deck display system may include a display device to support the sample deck adjacent an architectural opening for a user to view several of the multiple covering samples at the same time, such as for simultaneous comparison purposes.

First claim

1 . A sample deck comprising: a substrate having a height dimension and a length dimension that is larger than the height dimension; and a plurality of covering samples each including a front surface configured to extend across an opening, said plurality of covering samples attached to said substrate in a side-by-side arrangement along the length dimension of said substrate for side-by-side extension of said plurality of covering samples and side-by-side viewing of said front surfaces of said plurality of covering samples in an environment in which a covering represented by one or more of said plurality of covering samples is to be placed, said front surface of each of said plurality of covering samples extending along at least a portion of the length dimension of said substrate; wherein each covering sample is independently movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position. 2 . The sample deck of claim 1 , wherein each covering sample is expandable away from said substrate and collapsible towards said substrate. 3 . The sample deck of claim 1 , wherein each covering sample includes a cover member identifying the respective covering sample. 4 . The sample deck of claim 3 , wherein each covering sample is positioned between said substrate and said cover member along a vector extending away from said substrate. 5 . The sample deck of claim 1 , wherein at least two covering samples have different lengths when fully extended. 6 . The sample deck of claim 1 , further comprising a retention feature attached to said substrate and associated with said plurality of covering samples. 7 . The sample deck of claim 6 , wherein said retention feature comprises a post that is interference fit within an aperture formed through a portion of said plurality of covering samples. 8 . A sample deck comprising: a substrate; and a plurality of covering samples attached to said substrate and aligned side-by-side for side-by-side viewing of front surfaces of said plurality of covering samples in an environment in which a covering represented by one or more of said plurality of covering samples is to be placed, said front surface of each of said plurality of covering samples presenting a feature different from an adjacent covering sample, each covering sample including a shade structure arranged to expand away from said substrate into an expanded position and to collapse toward said substrate into a collapsed position; wherein each covering sample is independently movable between the collapsed position and the expanded position. 9 . The sample deck of claim 8 , wherein said shade structure comprises a cellular structure. 10 . The sample deck of claim 9 , wherein said cellular structure comprises multiple cellular rows attached to one another along top and bottom sides. 11 . The sample deck of claim 10 , wherein each cellular row includes at least one cell having a hexagonal cross-sectional shape. 12 . The sample deck of claim 10 , wherein each cellular row includes an outer cell and an inner cell disposed within said outer cell. 13 . The sample deck of claim 8 , wherein said shade structure is pleated. 14 . A device for displaying a plurality of covering samples within an architectural opening, said device comprising: a support structure; a bracket associated with an upper portion of said support structure for supporting the plurality of covering samples side-by-side along a width dimension of the architectural opening; and an extension feature associated with a lower portion of said support structure for retaining one or more covering samples in an extended position for side-by-side viewing of different properties of the covering samples. 15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said bracket comprises a first bracket member extending forwardly from and pivotally coupled to said support structure. 16 . (canceled) 17 . (canceled) 18 . The device of claim 15 , wherein said first bracket member defines multiple apertures dimensioned to permit passage of said plurality of covering samples. 19 . (canceled) 20 . (canceled) 21 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said extension feature comprises a lower bracket associated with said lower portion of said support structure and adjustable relative to said support structure. 22 . (canceled) 23 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said extension feature comprises multiple slits defined in said support structure. 24 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said extension feature comprises a biasing device associated with one or more covering samples. 25 . (canceled) 26 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said extension feature comprises a magnet attached to at least one covering sample and a magnetic material attached to said lower portion of said support structure. 27 .- 37 . (canceled)
