Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A disposable absorbent article having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed therebetween is described herein. The topsheet includes a first zone disposed between a second zone and a third zone; a first end area and a second end area; and an array of features which includes one of apertures, tufts, ridges, or grooves disposed in the first zone. A plurality of bond sites are disposed in the second and third zones. The plurality of bond sites are configured in a curvilinear manner in at least the first end area or the second end area and mask a boundary of the first zone.

What is claimed is: 1 . A disposable absorbent article comprising a longitudinal axis and a lateral axis generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, a pair of side edges extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis and a pair of end edges joining said pair of side edges on opposite ends of the disposable absorbent article, the disposable absorbent article further comprising: a topsheet comprising a first zone disposed between a second zone and a third zone, a first end area and a second end area, an array of features comprising at least one of apertures, tufts, ridges, or grooves, disposed in the first zone, a first plurality of bond sites disposed in the second zone and the third zone, wherein the plurality of bond sites are configured in a curvilinear manner in at least the first end area or the second end area and mask a boundary of the first zone; a backsheet; and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. 2 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the array of features comprises apertures. 3 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 2 , further comprising a second plurality of bond sites, wherein the first plurality of bond sites are disposed in the first end area and the second plurality of bond sites are disposed in the second end area. 4 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 3 , wherein the topsheet further comprises an intermediate area disposed between the first end area and the second end area and a third plurality of bond sites disposed in the intermediate area. 5 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the third plurality of bond sites in the intermediate area adjacent the lateral axis are disposed in the second zone and the third zone and wherein the third plurality of bond sites curve inward toward the first zone adjacent the first end area. 6 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 5 , wherein the third plurality of bond sites curve inward toward the first zone adjacent the second end area. 7 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the third plurality of bond sites in the intermediate area adjacent the lateral axis are disposed in the second zone and the third zone and wherein the third plurality of bond sites curve inward toward the first zone and are disposed in the first zone adjacent the first end area and the second end area. 8 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 2 , wherein the first plurality of bond sites forms bond indicia. 9 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 8 , wherein the array of apertures forms apertured indicia. 10 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 9 , wherein the bond indicia and the apertured indicia are coordinated. 11 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of structures disposed in the second zone and third zone. 12 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of structures comprises tufts. 13 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of bond sites are arranged continuously. 14 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 13 , wherein a second plurality of bond sites disposed in the second end area are arranged continuously. 15 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 14 , wherein a third plurality of bond sites disposed in the intermediate area are arranged discontinuously. 16 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the first plurality or second plurality of bond sites join the topsheet to a secondary topsheet disposed between the topsheet and the absorbent core. 17 . A disposable absorbent article comprising a longitudinal axis and a lateral axis generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, a pair of side edges extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis and a pair of end edges joining said pair of side edges on opposite ends of the disposable absorbent article, the disposable absorbent article further comprising: a topsheet comprising a first zone disposed between a second zone and a third zone, a first end area and a second end area, an array of features comprising at least one of apertures, tufts, ridges, or grooves, disposed in the first zone, a first plurality of bond sites disposed in the second zone and the third zone in the first end area, a second plurality of bond sites disposed in the second end area, and a third plurality of bond sites disposed in the intermediate area, wherein the first plurality of bond sites and the second plurality of bond sites are configured in a curvilinear manner in the first end area and the second end area; a backsheet; and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. 18 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 17 , wherein the array of features comprises apertures. 19 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 18 , wherein the first plurality of bond sites and/or the second plurality of bond sites forms bond indicia. 20 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 19 , wherein the array of apertures forms apertured indicia. 21 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 20 , wherein the bond indicia and the apertured indicia are coordinated. 22 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 18 , wherein the array of apertures forms apertured indicia and wherein at least a portion of the first plurality of bond sites, the second plurality of bond sites and the third plurality of bond sites comprise two different shaped bond sites. 23 . The disposable absorbent article of claim 22 , wherein the shaped bond site is coordinated with the apertured indicia.
