Abstract

Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for providing an interactive graphical user interface (GUI) on an interactive mirror display. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include identifying an item based on an identification device affixed to the item and accessing product information for the item from a product database. The method may further include generating a recommendation for an additional item related to the item. The method may further include generating the interactive GUI using the product information and the recommendation and causing the interactive GUI to be presented on the interactive mirror display.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . A system comprising:
an interactive mirror display unit; a controller communicatively coupled to the interactive mirror display unit, the controller comprising: an identification module comprising one or more hardware processors and a reader component, the identification module configured to identify an item based on an identifier obtained by the reader component from an identification device affixed to the item, the identification device including a readable medium storing the information, the identification module further configured to access, from an inventory system, an item record associated with the item using the identifier, the item record including product information describing the item; and a recommendation module configured to generate a recommendation for an additional item related to the item, the additional item being represented by an additional item record in the inventory system; an interface module configured to generate an interactive graphical user interface (GUI), the interactive graphical user interface including the product information and the recommendation for the additional item, the interface module further configured to cause the interactive GUI to be presented to the individual on the display unit, the interface module configured to cause the interactive GUI to be presented by performing operations including providing a set of computer-readable instructions to the display unit that causes the display unit to transition from a mirror surface to a touch display surface operable to receive user input and present the interactive GUI.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation module is configured to generate the recommendation for the additional item based on user profile data of an individual, the user profile data being maintained in a database accessible by the recommendation module via a network.

The system of claim 2 , wherein the recommendation module selects the additional item based on at least one of the group comprising: preferences of the individual, previous items purchased by the individual, items owned by the individual, items for which the individual has indicated interest, and interests of the individual.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation module is configured to generate the recommendation for the additional item based on a combination of user preferences, a user transaction history, and editorially specified suggestions of a retailer.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation module is configured to generate the recommendation for the additional item by performing operations including identifying the additional item from the inventory system based on at least one of a color, a price, a style, or a brand of the item.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:
the interface module is further configured to receive user input entered via the interactive GUI, the user input including a request for the additional item; and the system further comprises a communication module configured to transmit a message to a mobile device of a sales associate, the message including the request for the additional item.

7 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the user input is entered using a display element presented within the interactive GUI in conjunction with a display of the recommendation for the additional item.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the system further comprises:
an authentication module to identify an individual proximate to the interactive mirror display, the authentication module further to access contact information associated with the individual; and a communication module to communicate, using the contact information, a message to the individual, the message including the recommendation for the additional item.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the reader component obtains the identifier by performing operations comprising:
transmitting interrogator data to the identification device affixed to the item; and receiving a response from the identification device, the response including the identifier.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the identification device is a radio frequency identification (RFID) device.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the interactive GUI includes a display of an image, a product description, and a price for each of the item and the additional item.

12 . A method comprising:
identifying, using an reader component coupled to an interactive mirror display, an item based on an identifier obtained from an identification device affixed to the item, the identification device including a readable medium storing the identifier; accessing, from an inventory system, an item record associated with the item, the item record including an image of the item and product information describing the item; generating a recommendation for an additional item related to the item, the additional item being represented by an additional item record in the inventory system; generating an interactive graphical user interface (GUI), the interactive GUI including the product information and the recommendation for the additional item; and causing the interactive GUI to be presented to on the interactive mirror display, the causing of the interactive GUI to be presented including providing a set of computer-readable instructions to the interactive mirror display that causes the interactive mirror display to transition from a mirror surface to a touch display surface operable to present the interactive GUI and receive user input.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the generating of the recommendation includes accessing user profile data of an individual maintained in a database accessible by the recommendation module via a network.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising selecting the additional item from the inventory system based on at least one of the group comprising:
preferences of the individual, previous items purchased by the individual, items owned by the individual, items for which the individual has indicated interest, and interests of the individual.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the generating of the recommendation includes:
accessing user preferences; accessing a user transaction history; and accessing editorially specified suggestions of a retailer; wherein the recommendation for the additional item is based on a combination of the user preferences, the user transaction history, and the editorially specified suggestions of a retailer.

16 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
receiving user input entered via the interactive GUI, the user input including a request for the additional item; and transmitting a message to a mobile device of a sales associate, the message including the request for the additional item.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the user input is entered using a display element presented within the interactive GUI in conjunction with a display of the recommendation for the additional item.

18 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
causing display, within the interactive GUI, of a prompt to enter contact information; receiving, via the interactive GUI, contact information associated with an individual; communicating, using the contact information, a message to the individual, the message including the recommendation for the additional item
