Abstract

A method of controlling implementation of an application in a device includes obtaining identification information of one or more applications to perform rendering of media data in the device, displaying the obtained identification information on a screen of the device, and executing one application according to receipt, from a user, of an execution request of the application from among the one or more applications.

First claim

What is claimed is:

1 . A method of controlling implementation of an application in a device, the method comprising:
obtaining identification information of one or more applications to perform rendering of media data in the device; displaying the obtained identification information on a screen of the device; and executing one application according to receipt, from a user, of an execution request of the application from among the one or more applications.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving an input from the user requesting additional information about a selected application from among the one or more applications; and displaying the additional information about the selected application.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the executing of the one application comprises executing the one application corresponding to identification information selected by the user from among identification information of a plurality of applications displayed on the screen of the device.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining of the identification information comprises extracting the identification information from one or more data streams including the media data.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the obtaining of the identification information comprises extracting the identification information from a program map table (PMT) or an application information table (AIT), which is included in the one or more data streams.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the one or more data streams comprise data streams each conforming to a corresponding one of broadcasting standards which are different from each other.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
monitoring whether the identification information of the one or more applications is obtained.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the executing of the one application comprises:
detecting a gesture of the user; and executing the application when the detected gesture of the user corresponds to a preset gesture to determine whether the execution of the one application is approved.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining of the identification information comprises obtaining the identification information of the one or more applications when receiving a request to change a channel through which the media data is received.

10 . A device configured to control implementation of an application, comprising:
an identification information obtaining unit configured to obtain identification information of one or more applications to perform rendering of media data; a display unit configured to display the obtained identification information on a screen of the display unit; and a control unit configured to execute one application according to receipt, from a user, of request to execute the one application from among the one or more applications.

11 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising:
an input apparatus configured to receive an input from the user to request additional information about a selected application from among the one or more applications, wherein the display unit displays the obtained additional information about the selected application.

12 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the control unit executes the one application corresponding to identification information selected by the user from among identification information of a plurality of applications displayed on the screen of the display unit.

13 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the identification information obtaining unit extracts the identification information from one or more data streams including the media data.

14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the identification information obtaining unit extracts the identification information from a program map table (PMT) or an application information table (AIT), which is included in the one or more data streams.

15 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the one or more data streams comprise data streams each conforming to a corresponding one of broadcasting standards that are different from each other.

16 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the identification information obtaining unit monitors whether the identification information of the one or more applications is obtained.

17 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the control unit detects a gesture of the user and executes the one application when the detected gesture of the user corresponds to a preset gesture to determine whether the execution of the application is approved.

18 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the identification information obtaining unit obtains the identification information of the one or more applications when receiving a request to change a channel through which the media data is received.

19 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon computer-readable codes as a program for executing the method of claim 1 .
