Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A manager amongst numerous devices that serves as a manager or monitors another managed device. The managing device may queries the managed device to determine the functionality provided by, or requirements of, one or more managed device UIs. The managed device returns the functionality provided by or requirements of the managed device UI(s) to the managing device which, in turn, saves the information in a master UI function table. The managing device returns one or more UI modules to the managed device that are appropriate as based upon the received UI functionality or UI requirement information. The managing device may further assemble one or more UI modules that are appropriate as based upon the received UI functionality or UI requirement information and provide the assembled UI module to a user of the managing device.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method of sharing user interface (UI) modules comprising: determining, with a managing device, a managed device currently managed or monitored by the managing device; requesting, with the managing device, from the managed device one or more UI requirements; determining, with the managing device, one or more UI modules that satisfy the one or more UI requirements of the managed device; delivering, with the managing device, the one or more UI modules that satisfy the one or more UI requirements of the managed device; assembling, with the managing device, the one or more UI modules, and; providing, via a user interface of the managing device, the assembled UI module. 2 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 1 , further comprising: providing, via a user interface of the managed device, the one or more delivered UI modules. 3 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 1 , further comprising: obtaining, with the managing device, the one or more UI modules that satisfy the one or more UI requirements of the managed device from a UI host device. 4 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving, with the managing device, from the managed device one or more UI requirements, and; storing, within a functionality table of the managing device, the received one or more UI requirements. 5 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 1 , wherein the one or more UI modules are segments of a graphical user interface (GUI) application. 6 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 5 , wherein the GUI module is provided via display of the managing device. 7 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 5 , wherein the GUI module is provided via touch screen of the managing device. 8 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 5 , wherein the GUI module is a dojo widget. 9 . The method of sharing UI modules of claim 5 , wherein the provided GUI module displays a hardware view of the managed device.
