The invention claimed is: 1 . A tampon pledget, comprising: at least one bottom pad; at least one top pad; a fiber distribution ratio of said bottom fiber weight distribution to said top fiber weight distribution of between about 0.75:1 and about 1.5:1; and an average positive displacement of greater than about 0.145; and wherein prior to folding said at least one bottom pad and said at least one top pad to form a compressed tampon pledget, said at least one top pad and said at least one bottom pad are in a cross-pad configuration.
