Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems, methods, and machine-interpretable data representing executable instruction sets and/or other products for the processing of data for the secure creation, administration, manipulation, processing, and storage of electronic data useful in the processing of payment transactions and other secure data processes. Some embodiments provides secure means for the authorization of sensitive and other data processes subject to controlled access. Such processes include the creation, administration, authorization, virtualization, storage, and other manipulation or processing of electronic data representing characteristics of, instructions for, and information associated with consumer, business, and other payment accounts, and other forms of secure payment elements, such as payment tokens; and data useful in processing transactions using such accounts and elements. Information associated with particular payment means, such as accounts or payment tokens, can be stored in a data set, usually secure, sometimes referred to as a virtual or electronic wallet, or a secure payment token.

1 . A mobile communication device comprising: at least one network communication system; at least one data processor; and at least one persistent memory device, the at least one persistent memory device comprising stored data representing at least: at least one secure payment token, the at least one secure payment token comprising data associated with an authorized payment amount and a financial service provider by which the authorized payment amount was authorized; and one or more sets of machine-interpretable instructions; the at least one data processor adapted, by execution of the one or more sets of stored, machine-interpretable instructions, to: in accordance with an instruction received by the mobile communication device, configure a user-adjustable parameter of the at least one payment token; using the network communication system, route the configured payment token to a transaction processing system. 2 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein: the using the network communication system to route the configured payment token to a transaction processing system is conditioned upon a determination that a transaction initiated by the processor in accordance with the received instruction satisfies one or more transaction authorization criteria represented by the user-adjustable parameter. 3 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the user-adjustable parameter represents at least a per-transaction value limit for the payment token. 4 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the user-adjustable parameter represents at least a cumulative transaction value limit for the payment token. 5 . The mobile communication device of claim 4 , wherein the cumulative transaction value limit refers to a defined time period. 6 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the user-adjustable parameter represents at least a transaction frequency limit for the payment token. 7 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one persistent memory device further comprises stored data representing at least one private key issued by the financial service provider, the at least one private key usable for encrypting and decrypting the at least one payment token in accordance with a private key encryption protocol. 8 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the instruction is received as user input at the mobile communication device. 9 . The mobile communication device of claim 1 , wherein the instruction is received by the mobile communication device from a remote communication device using the network communication system. 10 . A mobile communication device comprising: at least one network communication system; at least one data processor; and at least one persistent memory device, the at least one persistent memory device comprising stored data representing at least: at least one secure payment token, the at least one secure payment token comprising data associated with an authorized payment amount and a financial service provider by which the authorized payment amount was authorized; and one or more sets of machine-interpretable instructions; the at least one data processor adapted, by execution of the one or more sets of stored, machine-interpretable instructions, to: using the network communication system, route the configured payment token to a transaction processing system for use in processing an initiated transaction; conditioned upon receipt from the transaction processing system of signals indicating the initiated transaction has been processed, reduce the authorized payment amount for a future transaction by an amount associated with the processed transaction. 11 . The mobile communication device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one data processor is further adapted to: receive an indication of a value of the initiated transaction; and route the configured payment token to the transaction processing system if it is determined that the value of the initiated transaction does not exceed the remaining authorizing payment amount of the at least one payment token. 12 . The mobile communication device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one payment token comprises an initial authorized payment amount that is authorized by the financial service provider. 13 . The mobile communication device of claim 12 wherein the initial authorized payment amount is authorized by the financial service provider based on one or more characteristics of the user. 14 . A mobile communication device comprising: at least one network communication system; at least one data processor; and at least one persistent memory device, the at least one persistent memory device comprising stored data representing at least: at least one secure payment token, the at least one secure payment token comprising data representing at least an authorized transaction amount and a payment service provider by which a transaction in accordance with the amount was authorized; at least one identifier associated with at least one authorized user of at least one transaction payment amount; and one or more sets of machine-interpretable instructions; the at least one data processor adapted, by execution of the one or more sets of stored, machine-interpretable instructions, to: in accordance with an instruction of a user of the mobile communication device, access the at least one stored payment token; configure the at least one payment token to comprise data representing the at least one identifier; and using the network communication system, route the configured payment token to a transaction processing system for use in processing the initiated transaction. 15 . The mobile communication device of claim 14 , wherein the stored payment token comprises a resource locator associated with a memory of a server of the financial services provider, the resource locator usable by the transaction processing system to access an authorized transaction value stored in the memory. 16 . A mobile communication device comprising: at least one network communication system; at least one data processor; and at least one persistent memory device, the at least one persistent memory device comprising stored data representing at least: at least one secure payment token, the at least one secure payment token comprising data representing at least an authorized transaction amount and a payment service provider by which a transaction in accordance with the amount was authorized; and one or more sets of machine-interpretable instructions; the at least one data processor adapted, by execution of the one or more sets of stored, machine-interpretable instructions in response to an instruction of a user of the mobile communication device, to: using the network communication system, receive from a merchant transaction processing system and unpredictable authorization data set; access the at least one secure payment token; configure the at least one payment token to comprise data representing the unpredictable authorization data set; and using the same or another network communication system, route the configured payment token to a transaction processing system for use in processing the initiated transaction. 17 . The mobile communication device of claim 16 , wherein the unpredictable code is received from the merchant transaction processing system at the time the at least one payment token is configured to comprise the data representing the unpredictable authorization data set. 18 . A mobile commu
