1 . A closure comprising a base and a lid, the base and lid being joined by a double hinge arrangement so that the lid is movable between a closed position and an open position, the double hinge arrangement comprising a first hinge, a second hinge and an intermediate panel, the first hinge being connected to the base and the panel, and the second hinge being connected to the lid and the panel, in which the closure comprises one or more tongues for holding or causing the lid to be held stably in the open position. 2 . (canceled) 3 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the tongue/s are provided on or by the lid and/or the base and/or the hinge arrangement. 4 . (canceled) 5 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the tongue is resilient. 6 - 10 . (canceled) 11 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the lateral extent of the first hinge is greater than the lateral extent of the second hinge. 12 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the panel is a generally truncated triangular shape. 13 - 14 . (canceled) 15 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the first and/or second hinge is a butterfly hinge. 16 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the first and/or second hinge is a living hinge. 17 - 18 . (canceled) 19 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the second hinge is curved or linear. 20 - 22 . (canceled) 23 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which the first hinge comprises two or more mutually spaced links. 24 - 27 . (canceled) 28 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , the closure further comprising a tamper-evident member which is visible prior to first opening of the closure in use, wherein upon first opening of the closure the tamper-evident member becomes at least partly hidden from view, whereby to indicate the closure has been opened at least once. 29 . The closure as claimed in claim 28 the tamper-evident member is in the form of two rings connected together by frangible connection(s). 30 . The closure as claimed in claim 29 , in which the closure comprises a spout and the member masks at least part of the dispensing spout, the lid and the spout or base include projections which engage with corresponding projections on the tamper-evident member such that on first opening of the closure the tamper-evident band is pulled apart so that one ring is pulled by the lid and the other ring is pulled by the base or spout, the frangible connection(s) break such that the tamper-evident member splits into two parts, the lower ring falls into a pocket or void provided in the base so as to become at least partly hidden from view and/or to at least partly reveal at least part of the dispensing member. 31 . The closure as claimed in any preceding claim 1 , in which the closure comprises a spout which forms part of the base. 32 . (canceled) 33 . The closure as claimed in claim 31 , in which the closure comprises a spout which is formed separately from the base. 34 - 37 . (canceled) 38 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which co-operating tongues are provided on or by the base and the panel, the tongues causing the lid to be held in the stable open position. 39 . The closure as claimed in claim 1 , in which a tongue is provided on the base for engaging the panel so as to hold the lid in the open position and/or in which a tongue is provided on the panel for engaging the base so as to hold the lid in the open position. 40 . A closure comprising a base and a lid, the base and lid being joined by a double hinge arrangement so that the lid is movable between a closed position and an open position, the double hinge arrangement comprising a first hinge, a second hinge and an intermediate panel, the first hinge being connected to the base and the panel, and the second hinge being connected to the lid and the panel, in which the panel comprises a deformable section which is deformed when the lid is moved to the open position and exerts a force to hold the lid stably in the open position. 41 . The closure as claimed in claim 40 , in which the deformable section is deformed by the base. 42 . The closure as clamed in claim 40 , in which deformation of the deformable section causes stresses in the first hinge so as to hold the lid stably in the open position. 43 . A closure comprising a base and a lid, the base and lid being joined by a double hinge arrangement so that the lid is movable between a closed position and an open position, the double hinge arrangement comprising a first hinge, a second hinge and an intermediate panel, the first hinge being connected to the base and the panel, and the second hinge being connected to the lid and the panel, in which the first hinge is stretched or stressed as the lid moves towards the open position and or when the lid is in the open position to hold the lid stably in the open position.
