What is claimed is: 1 . A monitor support assembly for supporting a monitor within a space above an ambient floor surface, the support assembly comprising: a support subassembly resting on the ambient floor surface; and an integral panel assembly including a substantially planar central wall member and first and second integral lateral wing members extending from opposite lateral edges of the central wall member, the lateral wing members angled with respect to a substantially planar internal surface of the central wall member to extend to the same side of the planar internal surface , each of the lateral wing members forming an internal surface, the internal surfaces of the first and second wing members and the central wall member together forming a receiving space between the first and second lateral wing members and adjacent the internal surface of the central wall member, the receiving space having a depth dimension between distal edges of the lateral wing members and the internal surface of the central wall member for receiving the monitor; wherein, a lower edge of the panel assembly is mounted to the support subassembly so that the support subassembly supports the panel assembly in an upright position with the internal surface of the central wall member substantially vertically oriented. 2 . The monitor support assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a mounting plate mountable to the rear surface of a monitor, the mounting plate releasably supported by the panel assembly within the receiving space. 3 . The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the panel assembly comprises a bent sheet of metal that forms the central wall member and the first and second lateral wing members. 4 . The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the panel assembly further comprises a substantially horizontal desk surface extending from a lower longitudinal edge of the central wall member. 5 . The assembly of claim 4 , wherein the horizontal desk surface comprises a bent sheet of metal coupled to the central wall member. 6 . The assembly of claim 4 , further comprising a second bent metal sheet coupled to an external surface of the panel assembly forming each of the central wall portion and the first and second side wall portions. 7 . The assembly of claim 6 , further comprising a conductor interposed between the bent metal sheet and the second bent metal sheet. 8 . The assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a base member, and wherein the vertical support member is coupled to the base member.
