The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for modifying a machine-to-machine (M2M) service setting in an M2M system, comprising the steps of: transmitting at least one policy information to at least one device, wherein each of the at least one policy information comprises scope information and condition information; and if the state of an M2M gateway corresponds to a state of which the condition information is indicative, transmitting a first notification indicative of a state change of the M2M gateway to a device of which the scope information is indicative.

1 . A method for changing a machine-to-machine (M2M) service configuration by an M2M gateway in an M2M system, the method comprising: transmitting at least one policy information to at least one device, wherein the at least one policy information includes scope information and condition information; and when a state of the M2M gateway corresponds to a state indicated by the condition information, transmitting a first notification indicating a state change of the M2M gateway to a device indicated by the scope information. 2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the first notification includes first identification information indicating one of the at least one policy information, and wherein when the device indicated by the scope information receives the first notification, the device performs an M2M service according to policy information indicated by the first identification information. 3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one policy information includes limit policy information, the limit policy information including information indicating an allowed event category range of a request generated by the at least one device and information indicating a state of the M2M gateway to which the limit policy information is applied, and wherein whether the request generated by the at least one device is transmitted to the M2M gateway is determined according to whether a state of the M2M gateway and the request is included in the allowed event category range. 4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one policy information includes default policy information, the default policy information including information indicating a default attribute of the request generated by the at least one device and information indicating a state of the M2M gateway to which the default policy information is applied, and wherein, when the state of the M2M gateway corresponds to a state to which the default policy information is applied and when a specific attribute of the request generated by the at least one device is not designated, the default attribute contained in the default policy information is applied. 5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein when the state of the M2M gateway transits from a state indicated by the condition information to another state, a second notification indicating a state change of the M2M gateway is transmitted to the device indicated by the scope information. 6 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein the second notification includes second identification information indicating one of the at least one policy information, and wherein when the device indicated by the scope information receives the second notification, the device performs an M2M service according to policy information indicated by the second identification information. 7 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising: creating a resource for subscription to transmit the first notification, wherein the resource for subscription is created based on the scope information and the condition information, and is created by the M2M gateway or a policy manager. 8 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein the resource for subscription includes first information about an address of a device to which the notification is transmitted and second information about a criteria value at which the notification is performed, and wherein creating the resource for subscription includes mapping the scope information to the first information and mapping a value of a state indicated by the condition information to the second information. 9 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the condition information includes address information of target information to be monitored and criteria information indicating whether a condition is satisfied. 10 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the scope information includes identification information of an application instance or an application entity to which the policy information is applied. 11 . The method according to claim 3 , wherein the limit policy information further includes information indicating a processing scheme for a request not transmitted to the M2M gateway. 12 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the processing scheme for the request includes transmitting all pending requests, transmitting the latest request, transmitting a request having an event category value of a specific range or a request having a lifespan of a specific range, or processing a request according to the next policy. 13 . The method according to claim 4 , wherein the default policy information includes information indicating a default value for an event category of the request generated by the at least one device. 14 . A machine-to-machine (M2M) gateway of an M2M system, the M2M gateway comprising: a network interface unit; and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to transmit at least one policy information to at least one device through the network interface unit, and the at least one policy information includes scope information and condition information, and wherein the processor is further configured to, when a state of the M2M gateway corresponds to a state indicated by the condition information, transmit a first notification indicating a state change of the M2M gateway to a device indicated by the scope information.
