A first computing device determines that a first network device is to be removed from a network, where the network includes one or more network devices. The first computing device determines a first forwarding scheme for the network, where the first forwarding scheme does not include the first network device. The first computing device transmits the first forwarding scheme to the at least one of the one or more network devices in the network.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for preprogramming a network, comprising the steps of: a first computing device determining that a first network device is to be removed from a network, wherein the network includes one or more network devices; the first computing device determining a first forwarding scheme for the network, wherein the first forwarding scheme does not include the first network device; and the first computing device transmitting the first forwarding scheme to the at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: the first computing device determining that the first network device has been inserted into the network; and the first computing device transmitting a second forwarding scheme to at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the step of the first computing device determining that the first network device has been inserted into the network further comprises the first computing device receiving information from a second network device detailing that the first network device has been inserted into the network. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of the first computing device determining that a first network device is to be removed from a network comprises the first computing device receiving information detailing that the first network device is to be removed from the network. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first computing device is a network controller. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more network devices in the network reference the first forwarding scheme when transmitting information. 7 . A computer program product for preprogramming a network, the computer program product comprising: one or more computer-readable storage devices and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more tangible storage devices, the program instructions comprising: program instructions to determine that a first network device is to be removed from a network, wherein the network includes one or more network devices; program instructions to determine a first forwarding scheme for the network, wherein the first forwarding scheme does not include the first network device; and program instructions to transmit the first forwarding scheme to the at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 8 . The computer program product of claim 7 , further comprising: program instructions to determine that the first network device has been inserted into the network; and program instructions to transmit a second forwarding scheme to at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 9 . The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the program instructions to determine that the first network device has been inserted into the network further comprises program instructions to receive information from a second network device detailing that the first network device has been inserted into the network. 10 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the program instructions to determine that a first network device is to be removed from a network comprises program instructions to receive information detailing that the first network device is to be removed from the network. 11 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the first forwarding scheme is determined by a network controller. 12 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the one or more network devices in the network reference the first forwarding scheme when transmitting information. 13 . A computer system for preprogramming a network, the computer system comprising: one or more processors, one or more computer-readable memories, one or more computer-readable tangible storage devices, and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, the program instructions comprising: program instructions to determine that a first network device is to be removed from a network, wherein the network includes one or more network devices; program instructions to determine a first forwarding scheme for the network, wherein the first forwarding scheme does not include the first network device; and program instructions to transmit the first forwarding scheme to the at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 14 . The computer system of claim 13 , further comprising: program instructions to determine that the first network device has been inserted into the network; and program instructions to transmit a second forwarding scheme to at least one of the one or more network devices in the network. 15 . The computer system of claim 14 , wherein the program instructions to determine that the first network device has been inserted into the network further comprises program instructions to receive information from a second network device detailing that the first network device has been inserted into the network. 16 . The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the program instructions to determine that a first network device is to be removed from a network comprises program instructions to receive information detailing that the first network device is to be removed from the network. 17 . The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the first forwarding scheme is determined by a network controller. 18 . The computer system of claim 13 , wherein the one or more network devices in the network reference the first forwarding scheme when transmitting information.
