Official abstract text for this publication.
A system that implements a medical adherence tracker framework receives a workflow definition, the workflow definition comprising one or more tasks. The system persists the workflow definition, and the persisting includes serializing the workflow definition. The system synchronizes the workflow definition to one or more user devices, including transmitting the serialized workflow definition to the user devices. The workflow definition includes nested objects, and the system serializes the workflow definition and nested objects separately and links the serialized objects using an object identifier.

What is claimed is: 1 . A computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to implement a medical adherence tracker framework, the implementing comprising: receiving a workflow definition, the workflow definition comprising one or more tasks; persisting the workflow definition, the persisting comprising serializing the workflow definition; and synchronizing the workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized workflow definition to the one or more user devices, wherein the workflow definition comprises nested objects, the serializing comprising serializing the workflow definition and nested objects separately and linking the serialized objects using an object identifier. 2 . The computer readable medium of claim 1 , the implementing further comprising: generating reminders to complete one or more incomplete tasks; transmitting the reminders to the one or more user devices. 3 . The computer readable medium of claim 1 , the implementing further comprising: receiving an updated workflow definition from one of the user devices, the updated workflow definition having one or more updated portions; and synchronizing the updated portions of the updated workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized updated portions of the updated workflow definition to the one or more user devices. 4 . The computer readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the serializing comprises serializing the workflow definition using the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format. 5 . The computer readable medium of claim 3 , wherein the updated workflow definition received from one of the user devices comprises data generated by a tracking device connected to the one of the user devices, the tracking device being configured to capture user activity data. 6 . The computer readable medium of claim 5 , wherein the user activity data comprises one or more of steps taken, distance travelled, calories burned, activity intensity, sleep duration, sleep patterns, weight, body mass index (BMI), or percentage of body fat. 7 . A system comprising: a memory device configured to store a medical adherence tracker framework module; a processing device in communication with the memory device, the processing device configured to execute the medical adherence tracker framework module stored in the memory device; the medical adherence tracker framework module comprising a medical adherence tracker application programming interface configured to: receive a workflow definition, the workflow definition comprising one or more tasks; persist the workflow definition, the persisting comprising serializing the workflow definition; and synchronize the workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized workflow definition to the one or more user devices, wherein the workflow definition comprises nested objects, the serializing comprising serializing the workflow definition and nested objects separately and linking the serialized objects using an object identifier. 8 . The system of claim 7 , the medical adherence tracker application programming interface further configured to: generate reminders to complete one or more incomplete tasks; transmit the reminders to the one or more user devices. 9 . The system of claim 7 , the medical adherence tracker application programming interface further configured to: receive an updated workflow definition from one of the user devices, the updated workflow definition having one or more updated portions; and synchronize the updated portions of the updated workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized updated portions of the updated workflow definition to the one or more user devices. 10 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the serializing comprises serializing the workflow definition using the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format. 11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the updated workflow definition received from one of the user devices comprises data generated by a tracking device connected to the one of the user devices, the tracking device being configured to capture user activity data. 12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the user activity data comprises one or more of steps taken, distance travelled, calories burned, activity intensity, sleep duration, sleep patterns, weight, body mass index (BMI), or percentage of body fat. 13 . A computer implemented method comprising: receiving a workflow definition, the workflow definition comprising one or more tasks; persisting the workflow definition, the persisting comprising serializing the workflow definition; and synchronizing the workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized workflow definition to the one or more user devices, wherein the workflow definition comprises nested objects, the serializing comprising serializing the workflow definition and nested objects separately and linking the serialized objects using an object identifier. 14 . The computer implemented method of claim 13 , the method further comprising: generating reminders to complete one or more incomplete tasks; transmitting the reminders to the one or more user devices. 15 . The computer implemented method of claim 13 , the method further comprising: receiving an updated workflow definition from one of the user devices, the updated workflow definition having one or more updated portions; and synchronizing the updated portions of the updated workflow definition to one or more user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting the serialized updated portions of the updated workflow definition to the one or more user devices. 16 . The computer implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the serializing comprises serializing the workflow definition using the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format. 17 . The computer implemented method of claim 15 , wherein the updated workflow definition received from one of the user devices comprises data generated by a tracking device connected to the one of the user devices, the tracking device being configured to capture user activity data. 18 . The computer implemented method of claim 17 , wherein the user activity data comprises one or more of steps taken, distance travelled, calories burned, activity intensity, sleep duration, sleep patterns, weight, body mass index (BMI), or percentage of body fat. 19 . The computer readable medium of claim 1 , the implementing further comprising: receiving an updated portion of a workflow definition from one of the user devices; persisting an updated workflow definition based on the updated portion; and synchronizing the updated workflow definition to the other user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting, to each user device, one or more portions of the workflow definition that have been updated. 20 . The computer implemented method of claim 13 , the method further comprising: receiving an updated portion of a workflow definition from one of the user devices; persisting an updated workflow definition based on the updated portion; and synchronizing the updated workflow definition to the other user devices, the synchronizing comprising transmitting, to each user device, one or more portions of the workflow definit
