Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An adjustable visual optical element is provided, which may be supported, for example, by an eyeglass. The optical element is preferably adjustable in each of the X, Y, and Z axes to allow the wearer to optimize projection of the optical element. A view axis of the display is preferably also angularly adjustable with respect to a wearer's straight ahead normal line of sight. Source electronics may be carried onboard the eyeglasses, or may be connectable to the eyeglasses via either a hardwire, optical guide, or radiofrequency link.

1 .- 14 . (canceled) 15 . An optical display assembly configured to be removably attachable to an eyewear, the optical display assembly comprising a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the connector being configured to be removably attachable to a lateral portion of the eyewear; a transmission surface configured to be pivotally attached to the first end of the connector such that the transmission surface can pivot about at least one degree of freedom relative to the first end of the connector; and electronics in communication with an electronics module, the electronics configured to transmit image data to a wearer of the eyewear. 16 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , wherein the transmission surface is configured to yaw about the y-axis relative to the first end of the connector. 17 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , further comprising a housing configured to be pivotally attached to the anterior end of the connector, the transmission surface being housed within the housing. 18 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , the transmission surface comprising an optical element configured to redirect light from the electronics to the wearer of the eyewear. 19 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , the electronics comprising a scanner module. 20 . The optical display assembly of claim 19 , the scanner module comprising a diffuser. 21 . The optical display assembly of claim 19 , the scanner module comprising a focusing lens. 22 . The optical display assembly of claim 19 , wherein the transmission surface is configured to include the scanner module. 23 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , wherein the connector is configured to be removably attachable to a support of the eyewear, the support extending posteriorly relative to a frame of the eyewear. 24 . The optical display assembly of claim 23 , wherein the support is an earstem of the eyewear. 25 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , wherein the connector is configured to be removably attachable to a lateral portion of the eyewear at the second end of the connector. 26 . The optical display assembly of claim 15 , wherein the connector comprises at least one longitudinally extending link. 27 . An optical display assembly configured to be removably attachable to an eyewear, the optical display assembly comprising a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the connector configured to be removably attachable to a lateral portion of the eyewear; a housing configured to be pivotally attached to the first end of the connector such that the housing can pivot about at least one degree of freedom relative to the first end of the connector; a transmission surface housed within the housing; and electronics in communication with an electronics module, the electronics configured to transmit image data to a wearer of the eyewear. 28 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , wherein the housing is configured to yaw about the y-axis relative to first end of the connector. 29 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , wherein the connector is configured to be removably attachable to a lateral portion of the eyewear at the second end of the connector. 30 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , the transmission surface comprising an optical element configured to redirect light from the electronics to the wearer of the eyewear. 31 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , the electronics comprising a scanner module. 32 . The optical display assembly of claim 31 , the scanner module comprising a focusing lens. 33 . The optical display assembly of claim 31 , the scanner module comprising a diffuser. 34 . The optical display assembly of claim 31 , wherein the scanner module is housed within the housing. 35 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , wherein the connector is configured to be removably attachable to a support of the eyewear, the support extending posteriorly relative to a frame of the eyewear. 36 . The optical display assembly of claim 35 , wherein the support is an earstem of the eyewear. 37 . The optical display assembly of claim 27 , wherein the connector is configured to be removably attachable to a lateral portion of the eyewear at the second end of the connector. 38 .
