Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure relates to a battery powered light. The light includes a removable battery pack and a base portion which receives the battery pack. A light section is operably connected to the base section. The light section includes a light generator which produces light. The light further includes a mount. The mount is movable so that the mount can attach to a variety of surfaces including at least a flat surface and a curved surface.

What is claimed is: 1 . A light, comprising: a base portion configured to removably receive a power tool battery pack; an intermediate section rotatably connected to the base portion; a light section rotatably connected to the intermediate section, the light section including a light generator which produces light; wherein the base portion includes a magnetic mount configured to produce a magnetic field for mounting the light; wherein the intermediate section is configured such that the light section can be rotated to a stacked position forming a stack in which the light section is stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack received by the base portion such that in the stacked position, the majority of light produced by the light generator is blocked by a portion of the stack when the light generator is activated. 2 . The light of claim 1 , wherein the light section is rotatable relative to the intermediate section such that the light section may be stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack in a closed position to form the stack. 3 . The light of claim 2 , wherein the light section is rotatable relative to the intermediate section such that the light section may be stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack in an open position to form the stack. 4 . The light of claim 1 , wherein the magnetic mount comprises a first pair of extending magnetic field members. 5 . The light of claim 4 , wherein the first pair of extending magnetic field members comprise metal plates. 6 . The light of claim 4 , wherein the magnetic mount comprises a second pair of extending magnetic field members. 7 . The light of claim 6 , wherein the second pair of extending magnetic field members comprise metal plates. 8 . The light of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate section is rotatable about a first axis; wherein the light section is rotatable about a second axis; and wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis. 9 . A light, comprising: a base portion configured to receive a removable battery pack; an intermediate section, which is rotatably connected to the base portion; a light section which is rotatably connected to the intermediate section, the light section including a light generator which produces light through a light projecting surface; wherein the intermediate section is rotatable about a first axis; wherein the light section is rotatable about a second axis; wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis; wherein the first axis is offset from the second axis; wherein the light is configured such that the base portion, the removable battery pack and the light section can be stacked together in a third direction perpendicular to the first axis to form a stack in which the light projecting surface is positioned facing a portion of the stack so that most of the light produced by the light section is blocked by the portion of the stack. 10 . The light of claim 9 , wherein the third direction is perpendicular to the second axis. 11 . The light of claim 9 , wherein the light is configured such that the base portion, the removable battery pack and the light section can be stacked together to form the stack with the removable battery pack between the base portion and the light section. 12 . The light of claim 11 , wherein the first axis is at a first end of the light when the base portion, the removable battery pack and the light section are stacked together. 13 . The light of claim 9 , further comprising a hook on the base portion. 14 . The light of claim 9 , wherein the light section has a substantially rectangular box shape. 15 . The light of claim 9 , further comprising a magnetic mount configured to produce a magnetic field for mounting the light. 16 . The light of claim 15 , wherein the magnetic mount comprises a first pair of extending magnetic field members. 17 . The light of claim 16 , wherein the magnetic mount comprises a second pair of extending magnetic field members. 18 . A light, comprising: a power tool battery pack; a base portion configured to removably receive the power tool battery pack; an intermediate section rotatably connected to the base portion; a light section rotatably connected to the intermediate section, the light section including a light generator which produces light and a light projecting surface from which light projects; wherein the intermediate section is configured such that the light section can be rotated to a stacked position in which the light section is stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack received by the base portion to form a stack in which the light projecting surface is positioned facing a portion of the stack such that the majority of light produced by the light generator is blocked by the portion of the stack when the light generator is activated; wherein the intermediate section is rotatable about a first axis; wherein the light section is rotatable about a second axis; wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis; and wherein the first axis is offset from the second axis. 19 . The light of claim 18 , wherein the light section is rotatable relative to the intermediate section such that the light section may be stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack in a closed position to form the stack; and wherein the light section is rotatable relative to the intermediate section such that the light section may be stacked with the base portion and the power tool battery pack to form the stack in an open position. 20 . The light of claim 18 , wherein the intermediate section comprises a first portion extending along a third axis, a second portion extending along a fourth axis, and a fourth portion extending along a fifth axis; wherein the third axis is at an angle with respect to the fourth axis; and wherein the fourth axis is at an angle with respect to the fifth axis.
