Systems and methods for enabling control of various functions of a vehicle based on which occupant made a control input are described. In an example, a method includes determining which occupant of the vehicle is interacting with the vehicle user interface (UI) based on image data or an RF signal coupled to the occupant making the control input, and then responsively executing an action corresponding to the control input only if the occupant making the control input is permitted to do so.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for executing an action in a vehicle comprising a first seat position and a second seat position, the method comprising: emitting a first radio frequency (RF) signal from a first vehicle seat position via at least one of a steering wheel, a first seat belt, a first armrest, a first gear shift, or a first seat; emitting a second RF signal from a second vehicle seat position via at least one of a second seat belt, a second armrest, or a second seat; detecting, based on an interaction with a user display, a control input; determining that the interaction with the user display corresponds to the second seat position based on detecting the second RF signal at a point of contact between the control input and the user display, wherein the second RF signal passes from an occupant in the second seat position to the point of contact; determining that execution of the action corresponding to the control input is permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the second vehicle seat position; and executing the action corresponding to the control input. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that the interaction with the user display corresponds to the second seat position further comprises: capturing, using a camera, image data of an area proximate the user display during the interaction with the user display; determining, based on the image data, that the interaction with the user display was made by the occupant positioned in the second seat; and identifying the second seat as the second vehicle seat position. 3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising: capturing, using the camera, the image data of the area proximate the user display during a time period prior to the interaction with the user display; identifying a path of a hand of the occupant based on the image data captured during the time period prior to the interaction with the user display; and determining the second vehicle seat position based on the path of the hand of the occupant. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the control input comprises a first control input of a first set of control inputs corresponding to a first set of actions which are permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the second vehicle seat position, the method further comprising: detecting, based on an interaction with the user display by an occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position, a second control input, wherein the second control input is one of a second set of control inputs corresponding to a second set of actions which are not permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position; and presenting an alert to the occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position that the action corresponding to the second control input is not allowed. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the action corresponding to the control input is a first action when the control input is selected by a first occupant in the second vehicle seat position, and a second action when the control input is selected by a second occupant in the first vehicle seat position, the method further comprising: determining whether the first occupant or the second occupant selected the control input; and executing either the first action or the second action based on whether the first occupant or the second occupant selected the control input. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user display comprises a mobile device. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first RF signal and the second RF signal differ based at least on: having different frequencies or having different data sequencies encoded onto a common carrier frequency. 8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein detecting the second RF signal at the point of contact between the control input and the user display comprises: identifying at least one of a frequency or data sequence associated with the second RF signal. 9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one of the frequency or the data sequence of each RF signal changes over time. 10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user display is a capacitive touch screen configured to detect RF signals via control inputs, and wherein the user display is equipped with a notch filter configured to filter out RF noise. 11 . A system for executing an action in a vehicle comprising a first seat position and a second seat position, the method comprising: input/output circuitry configured to: emit a first radio frequency (RF) signal from a first vehicle seat position via at least one of a steering wheel, a first seat belt, a first armrest, a first gear shift, or a first seat; emit a second RF signal from a second vehicle seat position via at least one of a second seat belt, a second armrest, or a second seat; detect, based on an interaction with a user display, a control input; and control circuitry configured to: determine that the interaction with the user display corresponds to the second seat position based on detecting the second RF signal at a point of contact between the control input and the user display, wherein the second RF signal passes from an occupant in the second seat position to the point of contact; determine that execution of the action corresponding to the control input is permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the second vehicle seat position; and execute the action corresponding to the control input. 12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine that the interaction with the user display corresponds to the second seat position by: capturing, using a camera, image data of an area proximate the user display during the interaction with the user display; determining, based on the image data, that the interaction with the user display was made by the occupant positioned in the second seat; and identifying the second seat as the second vehicle seat position. 13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to: capture, using the camera, the image data of the area proximate the user display during a time period prior to the interaction with the user display; identify a path of a hand of the occupant based on the image data captured during the time period prior to the interaction with the user display; and determine the second vehicle seat position based on the path of the hand of the occupant. 14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control input comprises a first control input of a first set of control inputs corresponding to a first set of actions which are permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the second vehicle seat position, wherein the input/output circuitry is further configured to: detect, based on an interaction with the Uluser display by the occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position, a second control input, wherein the second control input is one of a second set of control inputs corresponding to a second set of actions which are not permitted when selected by the occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position; and present an alert to the occupant positioned in the first vehicle seat position that the action corresponding to the second control input is not allowed. 15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the action corresponding to the control input is a first action when the control input is selected by a first occupant in the second vehicle seat position, and a second action when the control input is selected by a second occupant in the first vehicle seat position, wherein the control circ
