A crossbow string guides that include upper and lower helical power cable journals on opposite sides of a draw string journal. A separation between first and second axis of the string guides in a drawn configuration is about 5 inches to about 10 inches and the draw string in the drawn configuration comprises an included angle of less than about 25 degrees. First and second pairs of power cables wrap and unwrap at least 300 degrees around, the respective first and second upper and lower helical power cable journals as the draw string moves between a released configuration to a drawn configuration.

The invention claimed is: 1 . A bow comprising: a riser; a first limb assembly attached to the riser at a first side of the riser, the first limb assembly comprising a first pair of limbs having a concave shape directed toward a central portion of the bow; a first pivot attached to the riser that engages an inner surface of the first pair of limbs and provides a flexure point for the first pair of limbs when the bow is in a drawn configuration, the inner surface of the first pair of limbs facing inwards toward the riser; a first axle mount attached to the first limb assembly distal to the riser on an outer surface of the first pair of limbs, the outer surface of the first pair of limbs facing away from the riser; a first cam rotatably coupled to the first axle mount via a first axle disposed through a central portion of the first cam, wherein the first axle mount extends outward from the first limb assembly such that a first axis of rotation of the first cam is offset from an end of the first limb assembly distal to the riser; a first pair of fasteners that attach the first axle mount to the first limb assembly, the first pair of fasteners disposed through the first axle mount at a location between the first axle and the end of the first limb assembly distal to the riser; a second limb assembly attached to the riser at a second side of the riser opposite the first side, the second limb assembly comprising a second pair of limbs having a concave shape directed toward the central portion of the bow; a second pivot attached to the riser that engages an inner surface of the second pair of limbs and provides a flexure point for the second pair of limbs when the bow is in the drawn configuration, the inner surface of the second pair of limbs facing inwards toward the riser; a second axle mount attached to the second limb assembly distal to the riser on an outer surface of the second pair of limbs, the outer surface facing away from the riser; a second cam rotatably coupled to the second axle mount via a second axle disposed through a central portion of the second cam, wherein the second axle mount extends outward from the second limb assembly such that a second axis of rotation of the second cam is offset from an end of the second limb assembly distal to the riser; and a second pair of fasteners that attach the second axle mount to the second limb assembly, the second pair of fasteners disposed through the second axle mount at a location between the second axle and the end of the second limb assembly distal to the riser, wherein a greatest width between the first pair of limbs and the second pair of limbs, at least in the drawn configuration, occurs at a location on the first pair of limbs between the first axle mount and the first pivot and at a location on the second pair of limbs between the second axle mount and the second pivot. 2 . The bow of claim 1 , wherein each of the first limb assembly and the second limb assembly comprise a split-limb assembly including a respective pair of limbs. 3 . The bow of claim 2 , wherein an offset distance of the offset of the axis of rotation of the first cam from the first limb assembly and the offset of the axis of rotation of the second cam from the second limb assembly is about 1.5 inches to about 4 inches. 4 . The bow of claim 1 , wherein the first axle mount is disposed proximate to an end of the first limb assembly and the second axle mount is disposed proximate to an end of the second limb assembly. 5 . The bow of claim 4 , wherein the first axle mount is attached to the outer surface of the first limb assembly facing away from the central portion of the bow and the second axle mount is attached to the outer surface of the second limb assembly facing away from the central portion of the bow. 6 . The bow of claim 1 , further comprising: a drawstring; and one or more power cables coupled to the first cam and the second cam, wherein the offset of the axis of rotation of the first cam from the first limb assembly and the offset of the axis of rotation of the second cam from the second limb assembly are configured to increase a speed of the first limb assembly and second limb assembly respectively during firing of the bow in association with the drawstring and the one or more power cables. 7 . The bow of claim 6 , wherein the offset of the axis of rotation of the first cam from the first limb assembly and the offset of the axis of rotation of the second cam from the second limb assembly are further configured to increase energy transfer from the drawstring and the one or more power cables to a bolt during firing of the bow. 8 . The bow of claim 1 , wherein the greatest width between the first pair of limbs and the second pair of limbs, in a release configuration, also occurs at the location on the first pair of limbs between the first axle mount and the first pivot and at the location on the second pair of limbs between the second axle mount and the second pivot. 9 . A cam assembly for a bow with a split-limb structure, the cam assembly comprising: a first axle mounting structure coupled to a first limb of the bow, wherein the first axle mounting structure is attached to an outer surface of the first limb, the outer surface of the first limb facing away from a central portion of the bow, and wherein the first axle mounting structure extends outward from the first limb; a second axle mounting structure coupled to a second limb of the bow, the second limb distinct from the first limb, wherein the second axle mounting structure is attached to a concave outer surface of the second limb, the outer surface of the second limb facing away from the central portion of the bow, and wherein the second axle mounting structure extends outward from the second limb; an axle supported between the first axle mounting structure and the second axle mounting structure, wherein an axis of the axle is offset from an end of the first limb and an end of the second limb; a first pair of fasteners that attach the first axle mounting structure to the first limb, the first pair of fasteners disposed through the first axle mounting structure at a location between the axle and the end of the first limb; a second pair of fasteners that attach the second axle mounting structure to the second limb, the second pair of fasteners disposed through the second axle mounting structure at a location between the axle and the end of the second limb; and a cam rotatably coupled to the axle such that an axis of rotation at a central portion of the cam coincides with the axis of the axle, the cam configured to receive a bow string of the bow. 10 . The cam assembly of claim 9 , wherein a maximum diameter of the cam is less than 3 inches. 11 . The cam assembly of claim 9 , wherein the cam rotates between about 270 degrees and about 360 degrees when the bow is drawn from a released configuration to a drawn configuration. 12 . The cam assembly of claim 9 , further comprising: a string journal coupled to the cam, the string journal configured to receive a bowstring of the bow. 13 . The cam assembly of claim 9 , further comprising: one or more attachment points disposed on the cam configured to receive a bowstring of the bow. 14 . The cam assembly of claim 9 , wherein the first axle mounting structure is positioned proximate to the end of the first limb distal to a riser of the bow and the second axle mounting structure is positioned proximate to the end of the second limb distal to the riser. 15 .
