The invention claimed is: 1 . A mechanical ventilation assistance device comprising at least one electronic controller configured to: receive positional data of a patient undergoing mechanical ventilation therapy with a mechanical ventilator; determine a position of an imaging device configured to obtain imaging data of the patient based on the received positional data; and display, on a display device, a representation of the determined position of the imaging device; control the mechanical ventilator to adjust one or more parameters of the mechanical ventilation therapy delivered to the patient using images acquired of a diaphragm of the patient when the imaging device is in the determined position; control the imaging device, while in the determined position, to acquire images of the patient in response to the one or more parameters of the mechanical ventilation therapy applied to the patient being adjusted. 2 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising: an augmented-reality heads-up display (AR-HUD) device, wherein the display device comprises at least one lens of the AR-HUD device. 3 . The device of claim 2 , further comprising: a camera attached to a portion of the AR-HUD device; the camera being configured to acquire video data of the patient. 4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the imaging data comprises one or more of ultrasound imaging data, X-ray imaging data, or video imaging data. 5 . The device of claim 4 , wherein the imaging data comprises ultrasound imaging data acquired with an ultrasound probe, and the at least one electronic controller is further configured to: receive one or more computed tomography (CT) images of the patient; overlay the one or more CT images with the ultrasound images generated from the ultrasound imaging data of the patient; and determine the position of the ultrasound probe based on the CT images overlaid with the ultrasound images. 6 . The device of claim 4 , further including: a non-transitory storage medium storing a patient-specific registration model for referencing the ultrasound imaging data to an anatomy of the patient; wherein the at least one electronic controller is further configured to determine the position of the imaging device based on the ultrasound imaging data referenced to the patient-specific registration model. 7 . The device of claim 4 , wherein the imaging data comprises ultrasound imaging data acquired with an ultrasound probe, and the at least one electronic controller is further configured to: receive one or more historical images of the patient; overlay the one or more historical images with the ultrasound images generated from the ultrasound imaging data of the patient; and determine the position of the ultrasound probe based on the historical images overlaid with the ultrasound images. 8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the imaging device comprises: an ultrasound probe configured to acquire the imaging data of the patient as ultrasound images. 9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the positional data of the patient comprises video data, the determined position of the imaging device comprises a target position of the ultrasound probe, and wherein the at least one electronic controller is configured to: receive video data of the ultrasound probe positioned relative to the patient; determine whether a current position of the ultrasound probe matches the representation of the target position. 10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the at least one electronic controller is further configured to: output an alert on the display device that the current position of the ultrasound probe does not match the representation of the target position. 11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one electronic controller is further configured to: provide visual feedback on the display device with instructions for the user to move the ultrasound probe relative to the patient to match the representation of the target position. 12 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the imaging device comprises an ultrasound probe configured to acquire the imaging data of the patient as ultrasound images, the positional data of the patient comprises video data of the ultrasound probe and the patient, and the at least one electronic controller is configured to: determine whether a current position of the ultrasound probe matches a target position; and control the ultrasound probe to automatically acquire images of the patient only when the current position of the ultrasound probe matches the target position. 13 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising: the mechanical ventilator configured to deliver the mechanical ventilation therapy to the patient. 14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the at least one electronic controller is configured to control the imaging device to acquire images of the patient after the one or more parameters of the mechanical ventilator are adjusted.
