Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The invention relates to a child safety seat for attaching to a motor vehicle seat, comprising a seat region, a back portion, an impact shield, the impact shield comprising an integrated airbag and/or an airbag being provided in the seat region, an acceleration-sensing device for sensing an acceleration of the child safety seat, and a control device, which is configured in such a way that the airbag is deployed on the basis of an acceleration sensed by the acceleration-sensing device.

The invention claimed is: 1 . A child safety seat for attaching to a motor vehicle seat, comprising: a seat region, a back portion, an anchoring device, an acceleration sensor configured for sensing an acceleration of the child safety seat, wherein the acceleration sensor is affixed at a location in or on the anchoring device, a control device which is not provided at a location in or on the anchoring device but is part of the child safety seat, wherein the control device is connected to the acceleration sensor, and: an impact shield for restraining a torso of a child and a shield positioning apparatus configured for positioning the impact shield, wherein the control device is configured to activate the shield positioning apparatus to position the impact shield in response to an acceleration sensed by the acceleration sensor and exceeding a predetermined acceleration, wherein by being positioned the impact shield is shifted towards a child occupant sitting in the child safety seat and towards one or both of the seat region and the back portion; and wherein the impact shield and a main body of the child safety seat define a space for receiving a torso of the child. 2 . The child safety seat of claim 1 further including an airbag integrated in the impact shield or in the seat region. 3 . The child safety seat of claim 2 wherein the airbag is configured for deployment based on the predetermined acceleration. 4 . The child safety seat of claim 2 wherein the airbag is integrated in the seat region and further including a control device coupled to the acceleration sensor and coupled to the airbag and wherein the airbag is deployed based on the acceleration sensed by the acceleration sensor. 5 . The child safety seat of claim 1 wherein the impact shield includes an integrated distance increasing device coupled to a control device, and wherein the impact shield includes a first section and a second section and wherein the impact shield is fastened to the child safety seat in a region of the first section, and wherein upon sensing the predetermined acceleration, the distance increasing device is displaced in a direction away from the first section and wherein the distance increasing device includes an airbag. 6 . The child safety seat according to claim 4 , wherein the control device is configured to deploy the airbag on an acceleration threshold value of at least 2 g. 7 . The child safety seat according to claim 2 , wherein when activated, the airbag is forced downwards and rearwards. 8 . The child safety seat according to claim 1 , wherein the anchoring device is coupled to the seat region or coupled to the back portion. 9 . The child safety seat according to claim 4 , wherein the control device and the acceleration sensor are connected by cables or connected wirelessly. 10 . The child safety seat according to claim 4 , wherein the impact shield is retained by a vehicle belt. 11 . The child safety seat according to claim 1 , wherein the acceleration sensor is integrated in the child safety seat. 12 . A method for operating a child safety seat attached to a motor vehicle seat, the method comprising: arranging a seat region of the child safety seat and a back portion of the child safety seat relative to the motor vehicle seat; configuring an acceleration sensor to sense acceleration of the safety seat, wherein the acceleration sensor is affixed at a location in or on an anchoring device of the child safety seat; sensing acceleration using the acceleration sensor and upon detecting a predetermined acceleration, activating the child safety seat by means of a control device, wherein activating the child safety seat includes at least one of: using a positioning apparatus configured to position at least one of an impact shield of the child safety seat for restraining a torso of a child and an anchor of the child safety seat, wherein positioning of the impact shield includes shifting the impact shield towards a child occupant sitting in the child safety seat and towards one or both of the seat region and the back portion, and wherein positioning of the anchor includes positioning the anchor relative to the motor vehicle seat; and using a belt tensioner apparatus configured to tighten a belt system of the child safety seat, and wherein the control device is not provided at a location in or on the anchoring device but is part of the child safety seat, wherein the control device is connected to the acceleration sensor. 13 . The method of claim 12 wherein the child safety seat includes a distance increasing device coupled to the impact shield, and further including, upon detecting the predetermined acceleration, activating the distance increasing device. 14 . The method of claim 12 further including arranging the acceleration sensor on the child safety seat. 15 . A child safety seat for attaching to a motor vehicle seat, comprising: a seat region, a back portion, a control device, an acceleration sensor configured for sensing an acceleration of the child safety seat, and at least one of: a seat anchor system and a second positioning apparatus, wherein the control device is configured to activate the second positioning apparatus to position the seat anchor system in response to an acceleration sensed by the acceleration sensor and exceeding a predetermined acceleration, and, a belt system and a first positioning apparatus, wherein the control device is configured to activate the first positioning apparatus to tighten the belt system in response to an acceleration sensed by the acceleration sensor and exceeding a predetermined acceleration, the belt system including a lap belt and a shoulder belt connected by a coupling element, and, wherein the child safety seat comprises an anchoring device, wherein the acceleration sensor is affixed at a location in or on the anchoring device, wherein the control device is not provided at a location in or on the anchoring device but is part of the child safety seat.
