A method for monitoring the motion of a sport ball impacted during the course of an athletic activity includes determining a motion characteristic of the sport ball for various points in time along a trajectory of the sport ball, displaying, on a display screen of an electronic display device, a video of the trajectory of the sport ball, and displaying, on the display screen, an instantaneous motion characteristic, the instantaneous motion characteristic being the motion characteristic of the sport ball for a point in time corresponding to a portion of the video currently being displayed.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method for monitoring the motion of a sport ball impacted during the course of an athletic activity, the method comprising: receiving at least one of a video of the sport ball recorded by a video camera or movement data captured by at least one of an accelerometer, a magnetometer, or a gyroscope coupled to the sport ball; determining, using at least one of the movement data or the video of the sport ball using video motion analysis techniques, a motion characteristic of the sport ball for various points in time along a trajectory of the sport ball, the motion characteristic comprising ball speed, ball spin rate, or ball spin axis; displaying, on a display screen of an electronic display device, a video of the trajectory of the sport ball; and displaying, on the display screen, in addition to the trajectory of the sport ball while displaying the video of the trajectory, an instantaneous motion characteristic, the instantaneous motion characteristic being the motion characteristic of the sport ball for a point in time corresponding to a portion of the video of the trajectory currently being displayed. 2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising correlating the instantaneous motion characteristic with the portion of the video of the trajectory currently being displayed based on a time associated with the instantaneous motion characteristic and an individual video frame. 3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising changing, upon the video of the trajectory advancing by a video frame, the displayed instantaneous motion characteristic to match the video frame. 4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, on the display screen, an interface enabling a user to selectively advance the video of the trajectory one frame at a time. 5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying as text, on the display screen, multiple instantaneous motion characteristics, the multiple instantaneous motion characteristics comprising ball speed and ball spin rate for the point in time corresponding to the portion of the video of the trajectory currently being displayed. 6 . The method of claim 1 , comprising receiving the video of the sport ball recorded by the video camera, wherein the video of the sport ball comprises the video of the trajectory of the sport ball, the method further comprising automatically clipping the video of the sport ball. 7 . The method of claim 1 , comprising receiving the video of the sport ball recorded by the video camera, wherein the video of the sport ball comprises the video of the trajectory of the sport ball. 8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving the movement data; and determining the motion characteristic using the movement data. 9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising generating an animation from the movement data, wherein the video of the trajectory is the animation. 10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying, on the display screen, the video of the trajectory of the sport ball along with a video of a model trajectory. 11 . The method of claim 1 , comprising: receiving the video of the sport ball recorded by the video camera; and determining the motion characteristic using the video of the sport ball using the video motion analysis techniques. 12 . An athletic activity monitoring system, comprising: a sport ball and a sensor module coupled to the sport ball, the sensor module comprising at least one of an accelerometer, a magnetometer, or a gyroscope, the sensor module being configured to determine, using movement data captured by at least one of the accelerometer, the magnetometer, or the gyroscope of the sensor module and alone or in combination with a personal area or a remotely located external processing device, a motion characteristic of the sport ball for various points in time along a trajectory of the sport ball, the motion characteristic comprising ball speed, ball spin rate, or ball spin axis; and an electronic display device configured to: display, on a display screen, a video of the trajectory of the sport ball; and display, on the display screen, in addition to the trajectory of the sport ball while displaying the video, an instantaneous motion characteristic, the instantaneous motion characteristic being the motion characteristic of the sport ball for a point in time corresponding to a portion of the video currently being displayed. 13 . The system of claim 12 , the personal area or the remotely located external processing device being configured to correlate the instantaneous motion characteristic with the portion of the video currently being displayed based on a time associated with the instantaneous motion characteristic and an individual video frame. 14 . The system of claim 13 , the electronic display device being configured to change, upon the video advancing by a video frame, the displayed instantaneous motion characteristic to match the video frame. 15 . The system of claim 12 , the electronic display device being configured to display as text, on the display screen, multiple instantaneous motion characteristics, the multiple instantaneous motion characteristics comprising ball speed and ball spin rate for the point in time corresponding to the portion of the video currently being displayed. 16 . The system of claim 12 , the personal area or the remotely located external processing device being configured to automatically clip the video. 17 . The system of claim 12 , comprising a video camera configured to record the video. 18 . The system of claim 17 , the personal area or the remotely located external processing device being configured to further determine the motion characteristic using the video using video motion analysis techniques. 19 . The system of claim 12 , the personal area or the remotely located external processing device being configured to generate an animation from the movement data, wherein the video is the animation. 20 . The system of claim 12 , the electronic display device being configured to display, on the display screen, the video of the trajectory of the sport ball along with a video of a model trajectory.
