An adjustable mounting assembly for an outdoor unit of an air conditioning unit is disclosed. In some embodiments, the outdoor unit on the adjustable mounting assembly may be capable of moving among multiple height positions, for example, from a higher loading position to a lower installed position. For example, in some embodiments, the adjustable mounting assembly may include a counterbalancing mechanism to facilitate the position movement of the outdoor unit. In some other embodiments, the position movement of the outdoor unit may be achieved by folding and/or unfolding of a scissor lifting mechanism.

What is claimed is: 1 . An adjustable mounting assembly for an air conditioner for a side-sliding window opening, comprising: a frame; at least one support brace coupled to said frame and having a first end and a second end; at least one support brace offset arm having a first portion and a second portion and an offset portion therebetween, wherein said first portion defines a first end of said at least one support brace offset arm, wherein said second portion defines a second end of said at least one support brace offset arm, wherein said at least one support brace, said first portion, said second portion, and said offset portion collectively define a substantially horizontal top surface, wherein said offset portion laterally spaces said first end of said at least one support brace offset arm from said second end of said at least one support brace offset arm in a lateral direction, wherein said lateral direction is to be parallel to a sliding direction of a side-sliding window sash slidable to open and/or close the side-sliding window opening, and wherein said first end of said at least one support brace extends directly from said first end of said at least one support brace offset arm; at least one wall support leg having a first end and a second end, wherein said first end of said at least one wall support leg is coupled to said at least one support brace; and a window support rail, wherein said window support rail is configured to rest on a window sill and contact a window jamb when said adjustable mounting assembly is installed, and wherein said second end of said at least one support brace offset arm is received within an opening defined by said window support rail. 2 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support brace includes a first support brace and a second support brace, and wherein said at least one support brace offset arm includes exactly one support brace offset arm. 3 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 2 , wherein said first support brace is positioned laterally to a left side of said second support brace when said adjustable mounting assembly is to be viewed from an inside of a room by a user looking out the side-sliding window opening. 4 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 3 , wherein said exactly one support brace offset arm is coupled to said first support brace. 5 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 3 , wherein said exactly one support brace offset arm is coupled to said second support brace. 6 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support brace includes a first support brace and a second support brace, and wherein said at least one support brace offset arm includes a first support brace offset arm and a second support brace offset arm. 7 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 6 , wherein said first support brace is positioned laterally to a left side of said second support brace when said adjustable mounting assembly is to be viewed from an inside of a room by a user looking out the side-sliding window opening. 8 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 7 , wherein said first support brace offset arm is coupled to said first support brace and said second support brace offset arm is coupled to said second support brace. 9 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support brace is configured to support the air conditioner. 10 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a platform supported by said frame. 11 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 10 , wherein said platform is configured to support the air conditioner. 12 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein said second end of said at least one wall support leg is configured to contact a surface outside the side-sliding window opening. 13 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support brace includes a first support brace and a second support brace. 14 . An adjustable mounting assembly for an air conditioner for a side-sliding window opening, comprising: a frame having a vertical guide track with a first track end and a second track end; at least one support brace coupled to said frame, said at least one support brace having a first end and a second end; at least one offset arm having a first portion and a second portion separated by an offset portion, wherein said offset portion is configured to extend in a direction parallel to a window sill of a window, wherein said first portion of said at least one offset arm and said at least one support brace are longitudinally aligned, and wherein said second portion of said at least one offset arm is configured to extend through the side-sliding window opening when said adjustable mounting assembly is installed; a sliding element slidable within said vertical guide track between a first position at said first track end and a second position at said second track end, wherein said sliding element is configured to support the air conditioner, and said sliding element is configured to adjust the air conditioner to different height positions between said first track end and said second track end by sliding within said vertical guide track; and at least one wall support leg coupled to said at least one support brace and having a wall support foot, wherein said wall support foot is configured to abut a surface below the side-sliding window opening. 15 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 14 , further comprising a platform coupled to said frame and to said sliding element. 16 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 15 , wherein said platform is configured to move with said sliding element between a loading position to allow the air conditioner to be placed on said platform and an installed position to allow said platform to be lowered in elevation relative to said loading position. 17 . The adjustable mounting assembly of claim 14 , wherein said at least one support brace includes a first support brace and a second support brace. 18 . A method of installing an adjustable mounting assembly for an air conditioner in a side-sliding window opening, wherein a window sash is slidable horizontally with respect to a center line of a window between an open position and a closed position, the method comprising: providing said adjustable mounting assembly, said adjustable mounting assembly including: a frame having a plurality of vertical guides, each of said plurality of vertical guides having an upper end and a lower end; a platform slidably supported by said frame; two support braces supported at said upper ends of said vertical guides, each of said two support braces having a first end and a second end; at least one support brace offset having a first end and a second end and an offset portion therebetween, said first end of said at least one support brace offset configured to be coupled to said first end of at least one of said two support braces; opening the window by sliding the window sash in a direction toward the open position; inserting said adjustable mounting assembly through the side-sliding window opening; positioning said adjustable mounting assembly such that said first end of said at least one support brace offset resides outside the side-sliding window opening at a first location and said second end of said at least one support brace offset resides at least partially within the side-sliding window opening at a second location; coupling said second end of said at least one support brace
