Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing projects in a content management system. For example, the content management system can create a project folder (e.g., shared folder) for managing data associated with a project. The project folder can be shared with content management system users (e.g., project members) who are contributors to the project. The content management system can store project data (e.g., content items, communications, comments, tasks, etc.) related to the project in the project folder. When the project folder is selected by a user, the content management system can generate a project folder view that presents the project data associated with the project folder and/or project in a convenient and easy to access graphical user interface. The content management system can aggregate project data from various content items associated with the project and present the project data in a single graphical user interface.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising: receiving, by a content management system from a user device, a search request based on a user input, the search request being for content item data associated with a project managed by the content management system; responsive to receiving the search request, executing, by the content management system a search across a plurality of databases to generate a collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system, wherein the collection of content item data includes one or more of comments, tasks, or tags associated with the project; grouping, by the content management system, the collection of content item data into a plurality of groups; and causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data, wherein the presentation is organized into the plurality of groups and displayed in respective groups of the plurality of groups on a display associated with a graphical user interface on the user device. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein executing, by the content management system, the search across the plurality of databases to generate the collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system comprises: executing the search across one or more of a comments database, a task database, or a project folder. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: organizing the collection of content item data based on one or more tags associated with the collection of content item data. 4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: organizing a first portion of the content item data into a first location on the display, wherein the first portion of the content item data is associated with a first tag of the one or more tags; and organizing a second portion of the content item data into a second location on the display, wherein the second portion of the content item data is associated with a second tag of the one or more tags. 5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the first portion of the content item data includes one or more of comments, files, or tasks associated with the first tag. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: causing display of an indication of authors associated with the collection of content item data. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: causing display of an indication of when the collection of content item data was last accessed. 8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising one or more sequences of instructions, which, when executed by a processor, cause a computing system associated with a content management system to perform operations comprising: receiving, by the computing system from a user device, a search request based on a user input, the search request being for content item data associated with a project managed by the content management system; responsive to receiving the search request, executing, by the computing system, a search across a plurality of databases to generate a collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system, wherein the collection of content item data includes one or more of comments, tasks, or tags associated with the project; grouping, by the computing system, the collection of content item data into a plurality of groups; and causing, by the computing system, presentation of the collection of content item data, wherein the presentation is organized into the plurality of groups and displayed in respective groups of the plurality of groups on a display associated with a graphical user interface on the user device. 9 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein executing, by the computing system, the search across the plurality of databases to generate the collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system comprises: executing the search across one or more of a comments database, a task database, or a project folder. 10 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein causing, by the computing system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: organizing the collection of content item data based on one or more tags associated with the collection of content item data. 11 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein causing, by the computing system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: organizing a first portion of the content item data into a first location on the display, wherein the first portion of the content item data is associated with a first tag of the one or more tags; and organizing a second portion of the content item data into a second location on the display, wherein the second portion of the content item data is associated with a second tag of the one or more tags. 12 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the first portion of the content item data includes one or more of comments, files, or tasks associated with the first tag. 13 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein causing, by the computing system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: causing display of an indication of authors associated with the collection of content item data. 14 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein causing, by the content management system, presentation of the collection of content item data comprises: causing display of an indication of when the collection of content item data was last accessed. 15 . A content management system comprising: one or more processors; and a memory having programming instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the content management system to perform operations comprising: receiving, from a user device, a search request based on a user input, the search request being for content item data associated with a project managed by the content management system; responsive to receiving the search request, executing a search across a plurality of databases to generate a collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system, wherein the collection of content item data includes one or more of comments, tasks, or tags associated with the project; grouping the collection of content item data into a plurality of groups; and causing presentation of the collection of content item data, wherein the presentation is organized into the plurality of groups and displayed in respective groups of the plurality of groups on a display associated with a graphical user interface on the user device. 16 . The content management system of claim 15 , wherein executing the search across the plurality of databases to generate the collection of content item data associated with the project managed by the content management system comprises: executing the search across one or more of a comments database, a task database, or a project folder. 17 . The content management system of claim 15 , wherein causing presen
