Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A strapping apparatus for strapping articles with a strapping band having a tensioning device for imparting a band tension to a loop of the strapping band, the tensioning device including a driveable tensioning element provided for engaging the strapping band to impart a band tension. The strapping apparatus including a connecting device for generating a permanent connection, in particular a welded connection, at two regions, situated one above the other, of the loop of the strapping band. The strapping apparatus is configured to achieve the release of the tensioning element from the strapping band reliably to avoid or reduce adverse characteristics attributed to the release of the tensioning device from the band.

What is claimed is: 1 . A lever element for a strapping device, the lever element comprising: a first arm; a second arm extending transversely from the first arm, the second arm comprising a free end comprising an arc-shaped toothing element comprising multiple teeth comprising an end tooth; and a flexible tooth positioned adjacent to and deflectable relative to the end tooth, wherein the flexible tooth is formed from a resiliently elastic material. 2 . The lever element of claim 1 , further comprising a flexible element comprising the flexible tooth. 3 . The lever element of claim 2 , wherein the flexible element is attached to the second arm. 4 . The lever element of claim 3 , further comprising a fastener attaching the flexible element to the second arm. 5 . The lever element of claim 3 , wherein the lever element comprises a first limb and a second limb extending transversely from the first limb, wherein the flexible tooth extends transversely from the second limb. 6 . The lever element of claim 5 , wherein the first limb and the flexible tooth extend in opposite directions from the second limb. 7 . The lever element of claim 6 , wherein the first limb and the second limb enclose a first obtuse angle. 8 . The lever element of claim 7 , wherein the second limb and the flexible tooth enclose a second obtuse angle. 9 . The lever element of claim 5 , wherein the first limb, the second limb, and the flexible tooth are integrally formed. 10 . The lever element of claim 9 , wherein the first and second limbs are formed from the resiliently elastic material. 11 . The lever element of claim 10 , wherein the resiliently elastic material comprises metal. 12 . The lever element of claim 1 , wherein the second arm is fixedly connected to the first arm. 13 . The lever element of claim 12 , wherein the first arm and the second arm enclose an obtuse angle. 14 . The lever element of claim 13 , further comprising a second arc-shaped toothing element comprising multiple second teeth positioned adjacent a junction between the first and second arms. 15 . The lever element of claim 14 , further comprising a flexible element comprising a first limb, a second limb extending transversely from the first limb, and the flexible tooth, wherein the first limb and the flexible tooth extend in opposite directions from the second limb. 16 . The lever element of claim 15 , wherein the first limb, the second limb, and the flexible tooth are integrally formed from the resiliently elastic material. 17 . The lever element of claim 16 , wherein the flexible element is attached to an upper surface of the second arm. 18 . The lever element of claim 17 , wherein the flexible element is attached to the upper surface of the second arm via a fastener. 19 . The lever element of claim 18 , wherein the flexible element is removably attached to the upper surface of the second arm via the fastener. 20 . The lever element of claim 1 , further comprising a flexible element comprising the flexible tooth, wherein the flexible element is removably attached to the second arm via a fastener.
