A medical device including an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The medical device may further include an end-effector disposed at the distal end of the elongate member. The end-effector may include a plurality of arms pivotally connected to one another, wherein each arm includes a tissue-contacting surface, a first portion of the tissue-contacting surface including a plurality of ridges configured to grasp tissue. Further, the tissue-contacting surface may include a channel oriented substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the medical device.

What is claimed is: 1 . A medical instrument comprising: a first arm and a second arm each having a proximal end, a distal end, an inner surface, and an outer surface, wherein the first arm and the second arm are coupled to an elongate member at the respective proximal ends of the first arm and the second arm to form a jaw-like structure, wherein at least one of the first arm and the second arm is moveably coupled to the elongate member, and wherein the inner surfaces of the first arm and the second arm cooperatively form a grasping region of the jaw-like structure; a first plurality of ridges, a second plurality of ridges, and a third plurality of ridges, wherein each of the first plurality of ridges, the second plurality of ridges, and the third plurality of ridges extend along the inner surface of the first arm in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure, wherein the first plurality of ridges is distal to the second plurality of ridges, and wherein the second plurality of ridges is distal to the third plurality of ridges; a first larger ridge on the inner surface of the first arm, wherein the first larger ridge is distal to the first plurality of ridges; a second larger ridge on the inner surface of the first arm, wherein the second larger ridge is distal to the second plurality of ridges and proximal to the first plurality of ridges; and a third larger ridge on the inner surface of the first arm, wherein the third larger ridge is distal to the third plurality of ridges and proximal to the second plurality of ridges, wherein the first larger ridge, the second larger ridge, and the third larger ridge are each larger than each ridge of the first plurality of ridges, the second plurality of ridges, and the third plurality of ridges. 2 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first arm or the second arm defines an aperture, wherein the aperture extends through a thickness of at least one of the first arm or the second arm. 3 . The medical instrument of claim 2 , wherein the aperture is a first aperture, wherein the first arm defines the first aperture extending through a thickness of the first arm, and wherein the second arm defines a second aperture extending through a thickness of the second arm. 4 . The medical instrument of claim 3 , wherein the first aperture is longitudinally aligned with the second aperture. 5 . The medical instrument of claim 4 , wherein the first aperture extends through a thickness of a ridge of the first plurality of ridges. 6 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first larger ridge, the first plurality of ridges, the second larger ridge, the second plurality of ridges, the third larger ridge, and the third plurality of ridges has an angular slope. 7 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first larger ridge, the first plurality of ridges, the second larger ridge, the second plurality of ridges, the third larger ridge, and the third plurality of ridges has an inner-most surface that forms a plateau. 8 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first larger ridge, the first plurality of ridges, the second larger ridge, the second plurality of ridges, the third larger ridge, and the third plurality of ridges, has either (i) a blunt surface or (ii) a sharp surface, based on a type of tissue to be handled by the medical instrument. 9 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of ridges has a shape that that is different than at least one of (i) the second plurality of ridges, (ii) the third plurality of ridges (iii) the first larger ridge, (iv) the second larger ridge, or (v) the third larger ridge. 10 . The medical instrument of claim 1 , wherein the first larger ridge has a different size than at least one of (i) the second larger ridge or (ii) the third larger ridge. 11 .
