What is claimed is: 1 . An air battery, comprising: a negative electrode; an air electrode to which oxygen is supplied; a solid electrolyte layer positioned between the negative electrode and the air electrode; a proton conduction layer positioned between an aqueous electrolyte layer and the air electrode; and the aqueous electrolyte layer positioned between the solid electrolyte layer and the air electrode, wherein the aqueous electrolyte layer comprises an aqueous electrolyte including a polyprotic acid having two or more carboxyl groups, an electrolyte salt, and water; and the air electrode does not contain a catalytically active metal, a catalytically active metal oxide, or a catalytically active complex. 2 . The air battery according to claim 1 , wherein the negative electrode comprises one or more negative electrode active material selected from the group consisting of a lithium metal, a lithium alloy, and a material into/out from which lithium is inserted-extracted. 3 . The air battery according to claim 1 , further comprising an intermediate layer positioned between the negative electrode and the solid electrolyte layer. 4 . The air battery according to claim 3 , wherein the intermediate layer comprises a nonaqueous electrolyte. 5 . The air battery according to claim 3 , wherein the intermediate layer comprises a metal oxide. 6 . The air battery according to claim 3 , wherein the intermediate layer comprises: a nonaqueous electrolyte layer disposed on the negative electrode side; and a metal oxide layer disposed on the solid electrolyte layer side. 7 . The air battery according to claim 1 , wherein the proton conduction layer comprises a fluorine resin having a sulfonic acid group, a tungstic acid or phosphotungstic acid.
