A damped compressor used in mobile appliances. The appliances may comprise a compressor which is disposed within a housing and is in fluid communication with a refrigerant system. Within the housing there is an improved damping or stabilizer system which limits movement of electric or mechanical portions, or both, of the compressor within the housing. At startup and shutdown, when oscillations of the components within the housing are generally maximized, the components are limited from contacting the housing internal structure so as to inhibit damage to the compressor and reduce the noise associated with such contact. The components are also damped from movement associated with the mobile application of the compressor.

What is claimed is: 1 . A mobile refrigeration compressor, comprising: a housing which encloses a motor and compressor body; a first damper mount extending from one of the motor or the compressor body; a first damper having an aperture which receives said first damper mount, said first damper connected to said first damper mount; a second damper having a second aperture which receives a second damper mount; a bracket connected to said housing and located between said first and second dampers, and between said first and second damper mounts; a retainer connected to said bracket and disposed above said first or second dampers, said retainer having legs which are arranged vertically and which are spaced apart from a vertical portion of said bracket; a bracket lower portion disposed connected to said bracket and disposed beneath said first and second dampers; said first and second dampers substantially surrounded by said retainer, said bracket, said bracket lower portion, and said legs; wherein said retainer, said bracket, and said bracket lower portion limits upward movement, downward movement, and lateral movement of said dampers and said damper mounts relative to said housing. 2 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 1 , further comprising a third damper. 3 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 2 , said third damper being a spring. 4 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 1 , said first and second dampers being formed of an elastic material. 5 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 1 , further comprising a third damper mount and a fourth damper mount opposed from said first damper mount and said second damper mount. 6 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 1 , said first and second damper disposed on a same side of an interior said housing. 7 . A mobile refrigeration compressor, comprising: a housing having a housing first portion and a housing second portion which together define an interior wherein a compressor body and a motor are positioned; a first damper mount and a second damper mount each extending away from one or both of said compressor body and/or said motor toward said housing; a bracket and a retainer disposed on an interior of said housing adjacent to each of said first damper mount and said second damper mount, a bracket lower portion and said retainer spaced apart vertically and connected to said bracket, vertical legs which are which are laterally spaced apart from a vertical portion of said bracket, said bracket lower portion, said retainer, and said vertical legs being adjacent each of said first damper mount and said second damper mount; a first damper disposed on said first damper mount and a second damper disposed on said second damper mount, and each of said first and second dampers located between said retainer and said bracket lower portion, said first damper and said second damper each having one of a male or female portion and said damper mount having the other of said male or said female portion, said first damper and said second damper each substantially surrounded by said retainer, said bracket, said bracket lower portion, and said vertical legs. 8 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 7 , said first damper and said second damper each comprising a centrally located aperture to receive said first damper mount and said second damper mount, respectively. 9 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 8 , said first damper generally surrounded by said retainer, said bracket lower portion and said vertical legs. 10 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 7 , said vertical portion disposed between said bracket lower portion and said retainer. 11 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 10 , further comprising said second damper spaced from said first damper. 12 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 11 , said vertical portion disposed between said first damper and said second damper. 13 . The mobile refrigeration compressor of claim 7 , said first damper and said second damper disposed on a same side of said interior of said housing.
