Official abstract text for this publication.
Methods, apparatus, and systems are described for improved edge network access for a UE. According to some aspects, a UE may receive a first Data Network Name (DNN) from an application and determine, based on a Data Network Name (DNN) Replacement Rule, the first DNN is associated with a second Data Network Name (DNN), where the first DNN and the second DNN are different. The UE may determine, based on the DNN Replacement Rule, to associate traffic from the application with a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) Session, where the PDU Session may be used to send data from the application to a network and the PDU Session is associated with the second DNN.

What is claimed is: 1 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), comprising a transceiver and one or more processors, configured to: receive a traffic descriptor and a route selection descriptor (RSD), wherein the traffic descriptor includes a first data network name (DNN) and the RSD includes a second DNN; determine a third DNN provided by an application; determine that the third DNN matches the first DNN; determine, based on the RSD, a protocol data unit (PDU) session associated with the second DNN; and route, using the PDU session, traffic provided by the application. 2 . The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU being configured to determine the PDU session comprises the WTRU being configured to send a PDU establishment request comprising the second DNN. 3 . The WTRU of claim 2 , wherein the PDU Session Establishment request includes an indication that the second DNN is a replacement DNN. 4 . The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the PDU session is an existing PDU session. 5 . The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU is configured to receive a user equipment route selection policy (URSP) rule comprising the traffic descriptor and the RSD. 6 . The WTRU of claim 5 , wherein the URSP rule is received in a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message. 7 . The WTRU of claim 5 , wherein the WTRU is configured to send an indication that the WTRU is configured to receive the USRP rule. 8 . The WTRU of claim 7 , wherein the indication is sent in a Registration Request. 9 . The WTRU of claim 5 , wherein the USRP rule is received in a UE Configuration Update message. 10 . The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU being configured to determine the third DNN matches the first DNN comprises the WTRU being configured to determine the third DNN is equal to the first DNN. 11 . A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: receiving a traffic descriptor and a route selection descriptor (RSD), wherein the traffic descriptor includes a first data network name (DNN) and the RSD includes a second DNN; determining a third DNN provided by an application; determining that the third DNN matches the first DNN; determining, based on the RSD, a protocol data unit (PDU) session associated with the second DNN; and routing, using the PDU session, traffic provided by the application. 12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein determining the PDU session comprises sending a PDU establishment request comprising the second DNN. 13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the PDU Session Establishment request includes an indication that the second DNN is a replacement DNN. 14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the PDU session is an existing PDU session. 15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the WTRU is configured to receive a user equipment route selection policy (URSP) rule comprising the traffic descriptor and the RSD. 16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the URSP rule is received in a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message. 17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the WTRU is configured to send an indication that the WTRU is configured to receive the USRP rule. 18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the indication is sent in a Registration Request. 19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the USRP rule is received in a UE Configuration Update message. 20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein determining the third DNN matches the first DNN comprises determining the third DNN is equal to the first DNN.
