What is claimed is: 1 . A plurality of shingles comprising: at least one active roofing shingle and at least one dummy roofing shingle; wherein the at least active roofing shingle comprises at least one RFID tag; wherein the at least one RFID tag is adhered to the at least one active roofing shingle; wherein the at least one dummy roofing shingle is without the at least one RFID tag; and wherein the at least one active roofing shingle and the at least one dummy roofing shingle are configured to be arranged in a configurable roof pattern. 2 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is adhered to an underside of the at least one active roofing shingle. 3 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one active roofing shingle comprises at least one asphalt roofing shingle. 4 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is configured to emit at least one radio-frequency signals having a signal power sufficient to penetrate at least one of the at least one active roofing shingle or the at least one dummy roofing shingle so as to enable at least one RFID reader device to communicate with the at least one RFID tag through at least one of the at least one active roofing shingle or the at least one dummy roofing shingle. 5 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is at least one active tag. 6 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is at least one passive tag. 7 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag comprises a near-field communication (NFC) tag. 8 . The plurality of shingles of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is configured to be read, using an RFID reader device, comprising: generating at least one reader RF signal at one or more frequencies to read the at least one RFID tag; detecting at least one return RF signal from the at least one RFID tag; wherein the at least one return RF signal carries tag data comprising at least one tag identifier. 9 . A method of installing a plurality of shingles comprising: obtaining the plurality of shingles comprising at least one active roofing shingle and at least one dummy roofing shingle; wherein the at least active roofing shingle comprises at least one RFID tag; wherein the at least one RFID tag is adhered to the at least one active roofing shingle; wherein the at least one dummy roofing shingle is without the at least one RFID tag; and wherein the at least one active roofing shingle and the at least one dummy roofing shingle are configured to be arranged in a configurable roof pattern; and installing the plurality of shingles on a roof in the configurable roof pattern. 10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is adhered to an underside of the at least one active roofing shingle. 11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one active roofing shingle comprises at least one asphalt roofing shingle. 12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is configured to emit at least one radio-frequency signals having a signal power sufficient to penetrate at least one of the at least one active roofing shingle or the at least one dummy roofing shingle so as to enable at least one RFID reader device to communicate with the at least one RFID tag through at least one of the at least one active roofing shingle or the at least one dummy roofing shingle. 13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is at least one active tag. 14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is at least one passive tag. 15 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag comprises a near-field communication (NFC) tag. 16 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one RFID tag is configured to be read, using an RFID reader device, comprising: generating at least one reader RF signal at one or more frequencies to read the at least one RFID tag; detecting at least one return RF signal from the at least one RFID tag; wherein the at least one return RF signal carries tag data comprising at least one tag identifier. 17 . A plurality of shingles comprising: at least one active roofing shingle and at least one dummy roofing shingle; wherein the at least active roofing shingle comprises at least one passive RFID tag; wherein the at least one passive RFID tag is adhered to the at least one active roofing shingle; wherein the at least one dummy roofing shingle is without the at least one passive RFID tag; and wherein the at least one active roofing shingle and the at least one dummy roofing shingle are configured to be arranged in a configurable roof pattern. 18 . The plurality of shingles of claim 17 , wherein the at least one passive RFID tag is adhered to an underside of the at least one active roofing shingle. 19 . The plurality of shingles of claim 17 , wherein the at least one active roofing shingle comprises at least one asphalt roofing shingle. 20 . The plurality of shingles of claim 17 , wherein the at least one passive RFID tag is configured to be read, using an RFID reader device, comprising: generating at least one reader RF signal at one or more frequencies to read the at least one passive RFID tag; detecting at least one return RF signal from the at least one passive RFID tag; wherein the at least one return RF signal carries tag data comprising at least one tag identifier.
