Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A computer-implemented method using a wearable device comprising collecting sensor data generated from one or more sensors of the wearable device and identifying a prompt for the user to engage in a wellness-related activity at a time for presentation, and presenting the prompt at the time for presentation. The method also includes determining that the wearable device is not being worn by the user, transmitting to a host device of an electronic coaching system a notification that the wearable device is not being worn by the user, and deactivating the one or more sensors in response to a determination that the wearable device is not being worn by the user.

What is claimed is: 1 . A computer-implemented method comprising: in accordance with a determination that a wearable device is being worn by a user: collecting, by the wearable device, sensor data generated from one or more sensors of the wearable device, wherein the wearable device includes: an input interface for receiving input from the user; and the one or more sensors; generating, by the wearable device and based at least in part on the sensor data, a user profile of the user; determining, by the wearable device and based at least in part on the user profile, a wellness-related activity for the user; selecting, by the wearable device, a first prompt from a plurality of prompts for the user to engage in the wellness-related activity, wherein the first prompt includes at least one of a style characteristic, presentation characteristic, or context characteristic; presenting, by the wearable device, the first prompt; determining, by the wearable device, that the wearable device is not being worn by the user; generating, by the wearable device, a responsiveness score based at least in part on how the user responded to the first prompt, wherein the responsiveness score includes at least one of how often, how fast, or when the user responded to the first prompt of a particular style characteristic, a particular presentation characteristic, and/or a particular context characteristic; selecting, by the wearable device and based at least in part on the responsiveness score, a second prompt from the plurality of prompts for the user to engage in the wellness-related activity, wherein the second prompt is different from the first prompt; and presenting, by the wearable device, the second prompt; in accordance with a determination that the wearable device is not being worn by the user: transmitting, by the wearable device and to a host device of an electronic coaching system, a notification that the wearable device is not being worn by the user; and deactivating, by the wearable device, the one or more sensors. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user profile includes a set of data elements, each data element of the set of data elements identifying a particular content to be presented for a particular prompt and past responsiveness data corresponding to the particular content. 3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising: receiving a response to the first prompt inputted via the input interface of the wearable device; and updating, based at least in part on the response, past responsiveness data of a corresponding data element of the set of data elements of the user profile. 4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a time for presentation of the second prompt based at least in part on an electronic calendar data specifically associated with the user. 5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein: presenting the second prompt at the time for presentation further includes generating a particular device output simultaneously with presentation of the second prompt; the particular device output is identified based at least in part on the sensor data and the user profile corresponding to the user; and the user profile includes a set of data elements, each data element of the set of data elements identifying one or more types of device output to be generated with presentation of the second prompt and past responsiveness data corresponding to the one or more types of device output. 6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: collecting, by the wearable device, additional sensor data generated from the one or more sensors; determining, by the wearable device and based at least in part on the additional sensor data, that the presentation of the second prompt is to be delayed; and suppressing, by the wearable device, presentation of the second prompt. 7 . A wearable device comprising: an input interface for receiving input from a user; one or more sensors; one or more data processors; and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed on the one or more data processors, cause the one or more data processors to perform operations comprising: in accordance with a determination that the wearable device is being worn by the user: collecting sensor data generated from the one or more sensors of the wearable device; generating, based at least in part on the sensor data, a user profile of the user; determining, based at least in part on the user profile a wellness-related activity for the user; selecting a first prompt from a plurality of prompts for the user to engage in the wellness-related activity, wherein the first prompt includes at least one of a style characteristic, presentation characteristic, or context characteristic; presenting the first prompt; generating a responsiveness score based at least in part on how the user responded to the first prompt, wherein the responsiveness score includes at least one of how often, how fast, or when the user responded to the first prompt of a particular style characteristic, a particular presentation characteristic, and/or a particular context characteristic; selecting, based at least in part on the responsiveness score, a second prompt from the plurality of prompts for the user to engage in the wellness-related activity, wherein the second prompt is different from the first prompt; and presenting the second prompt; in accordance with a determination that the wearable device is not being worn by the user: transmitting, to a host device of an electronic coaching system, a notification that the wearable device is not being worn by the user; and deactivating the one or more sensors. 8 . The wearable device of claim 7 , wherein the user profile includes a set of data elements, each data element of the set of data elements identifying a particular content to be presented for a particular prompt and past responsiveness data corresponding to the particular content. 9 . The wearable device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more data processors to perform operations comprising: receiving a response to the first prompt inputted via the input interface of the wearable device; and updating, based at least in part on the response, past responsiveness data of a corresponding data element of the set of data elements of the user profile. 10 . The wearable device of claim 7 , further comprising identifying a time for presentation of the second prompt, wherein: presenting the second prompt at the time for presentation further includes generating a particular device output simultaneously with presentation of the second prompt; the particular device output is identified based at least in part on the sensor data and the user profile corresponding to the user; and the user profile includes a set of data elements, each data element of the set of data elements identifying one or more types of device output to be generated with presentation of the second prompt and past responsiveness data corresponding to the one or more types of device output. 11 . The wearable device of claim 7 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more data processors to perform operations comprising: collecting, by the wearable device, additional sensor data generated from the one or more sensors; determining, by the wearable device and based at least in part on the additional sensor data, that the presentation of the second prompt is to be delayed; and suppressing, by the wearable device, presentation of the second prompt. 12 .
