SL DRX mechanism is used for power savings, to address a number of sidelink non-vehicular sidelink use cases. Methods, systems, and apparatuses, among other things, as described herein may use 1) A sidelink state model to describe the UE behavior for sidelink DRX operation. The DRX operation tailored to each of the sidelink states; 2) Power savings opportunities during SL operation, in addition to stopping PSCCH monitoring; 3) Various DRX models applicable to the sidelink; 4) SL_DRX operation for the SL UnLinked state; or 5) SL DRX operation for the SL_Linked state.

What is claimed: 1 . A first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising: a processor configured to: send assistance information to a second WTRU, the assistance information associated with a sidelink (SL) discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration; receive a configuration request from the second WTRU after sending the assistance information associated with the SL DRX configuration, the configuration request comprising SL DRX configuration information; determine whether to accept the SL DRX configuration information or to reject the SL DRX configuration information; on condition of determining to reject the SL DRX configuration information, send a message to the second WTRU, the message comprising an indication of rejection of the SL DRX configuration information; and on condition of determining to accept the SL DRX configuration information, send the SL DRX configuration information to a network. 2 . The first WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to monitor one or more of SL control information (SCI) or a physical shared control channel (PSCCH) during an active time of the SL DRX configuration. 3 . The first WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the SL DRX configuration information comprises one or more of a retransmission time period for SL DRX, a time period for SL DRX inactivity, a delay before starting a duration of an on period of a cycle of SL DRX, a duration of an on period of a cycle of SL DRX, or a minimum duration before a SL assignment for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmission is expected. 4 . The first WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the assistance information comprises one or more of a number of active SL communications for the first WTRU, a preferred SL DRX configuration, timing information of the SL DRX, or an indication that the first WTRU is requesting SL DRX for a certain resource pool, frequency, sidelink BWP, sidelink service type, cast type, or the second WTRU. 5 . The first WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the assistance information and configuration request are transmitted over a PC5 Radio Resource Control (RRC) message or over a medium access control (MAC) Control Element (CE). 6 . A method performed by a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: sending assistance information to a second WTRU, the assistance information associated with a sidelink (SL) discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration; receiving a configuration request from the second WTRU after sending the assistance information associated with the SL DRX configuration, the configuration request comprising SL DRX configuration information; determining whether to accept the SL DRX configuration information or to reject the SL DRX configuration information; on condition of determining to reject the SL DRX configuration information, sending a message to the second WTRU, the message comprising an indication of rejection of the SL DRX configuration information; and on condition of determining to accept the SL DRX configuration information, sending the SL DRX configuration information to a network. 7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the SL DRX configuration information comprises one or more of a retransmission time period for SL DRX, a time period for SL DRX inactivity, a delay before starting a duration of an on period of a cycle of SL DRX, a duration of an on period of a cycle of SL DRX, or a minimum duration before a SL assignment for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmission is expected. 8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the assistance information comprises one or more of a number of active SL communications for the first WTRU, a preferred SL DRX configuration, timing information of the SL DRX, or an indication that the first WTRU is requesting SL DRX for a certain resource pool, frequency, sidelink BWP, sidelink service type, cast type, or the second WTRU. 9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the assistance information and configuration request message are transmitted over a PC5 Radio Resource Control (RRC) message or over a medium access control (MAC) Control Element (CE).
