An upper for an article of footwear, the upper including a base layer defining a least a portion of the upper and polymer threads stitched to the base layer. The polymer threads may include a core composed of a first material and a coating composed of a second material, where the melting point of the first material is higher than the melting point of the second material. The polymer threads may be bonded to the base layer by the coating of the polymer threads. The polymer threads may include one or more polymer thread sets stitched in pattern(s) on area(s) of an outer surface of the base layer to provide targeted characteristics to area(s) on the upper. In some embodiments, the polymer threads may be bonded to the base layer with heat and/or pressure.

What is claimed is: 1 . An article of apparel, comprising: a base layer defining at least a portion of the article of apparel; and polymer thread comprising a polymer thread set stitched in an area on an outer surface of the base layer, the polymer thread comprising a polymeric material defining at least a portion of the polymer thread, and the polymer thread set comprising polymer thread lines stitched immediately adjacent to each other in an oscillating pattern; wherein at least a portion of the polymer thread lines are fused to each other such that the polymer thread lines form a polymeric layer within the area on the outer surface of the base layer, the polymeric layer comprising the polymeric material of the polymer thread. 2 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material of the polymer thread is thermally fused to the base layer to thereby directly bond at least a portion of the polymer thread set to the base layer. 3 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein: the polymer thread set is a first polymer thread set, the polymer thread comprises a second polymer thread set stitched under the first polymer thread set, and the second polymer thread set comprises polymer thread lines stitched immediately adjacent to each other in an oscillating pattern. 4 . The article of apparel of claim 3 , wherein the polymer thread lines of the first polymer thread set are oriented in a first direction and the polymer thread lines of the second polymer thread set are oriented in a second different from the first direction. 5 . The article of apparel of claim 3 , wherein the polymer thread of the first polymer thread set and the second polymer thread set is a continuous thread defining the first polymer thread set and the second polymer thread set. 6 . The article of apparel of claim 3 , wherein a polymeric material of the second polymer thread set is thermally fused to the base layer to thereby directly bond at least a portion of the second polymer thread set to the base layer. 7 . The article of apparel of claim 6 , wherein the polymeric material of the second polymer thread set is thermally fused to the polymeric material of the first polymer thread set to thereby directly bond at least a portion of the second polymer thread set to the first polymer thread set. 8 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the oscillating pattern comprises the polymer thread lines stitched with apexes spaced apart by a distance less than or equal to 1 millimeter. 9 . The article of apparel of claim 8 , wherein adjacent apexes in the oscillating pattern are positioned in an undulating and non-linear fashion. 10 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the polymer thread comprises a core comprising a core material and a coating comprising the polymeric material. 11 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , comprising a cushioning layer disposed between the base layer and the polymeric layer. 12 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the polymer thread set and the polymeric layer form an eyelet blank comprising an eyelet. 13 . The article of apparel of claim 12 , comprising a lace laced through the eyelet. 14 . The article of apparel of claim 13 , wherein the article of apparel comprises an article of footwear. 15 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the article of apparel comprises an article of footwear, and wherein the polymer thread set and the polymeric layer form a heel counter on the article of footwear. 16 . The article of apparel of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material comprises a thermoplastic material. 17 . A method of making an article of apparel, the method comprising: stitching polymer thread in an oscillating pattern on an outer surface of a base layer, the polymer thread comprising a polymeric material defining at least a portion of the polymer thread, and the oscillating pattern comprising polymer thread lines stitched immediately adjacent to each other; and heating the polymeric material of the polymer thread to at least partially melt the polymeric material and join at least a portion of the polymer thread lines with the polymeric material, thereby forming a polymeric layer on the outer surface of the base layer. 18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the oscillating pattern comprises the polymer thread lines stitched with apexes spaced apart by a distance less than or equal to 1 millimeter. 19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein adjacent apexes in the oscillating pattern are positioned in an undulating and non-linear fashion. 20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the polymer thread comprises a core comprising a core material and a coating comprising the polymeric material.
