Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods are disclosed for guiding image capture of a subject by determining a location of the subject and presenting on a display graphical guides representative of perspective views of the subject to be captured. Images of the subject may then be captured and additional graphical guides are presented to the user for display for additional images to be captured. Images may be captured in a predetermined sequence of graphical guides or responsive to a user input or camera information. Captured images may be uploaded to a system for additional processing.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method of directed capture of building imagery, the method comprises: overlaying, on a capture device display, at least one of a plurality of graphical guides; capturing, by the capture device, a plurality of building images concurrent with displaying the at least one of the plurality of graphical guides; determining when a base set of quality building images has been captured, wherein a quality building image comprises a building object aligned with an orientation of the overlay guide and wherein the base set of quality building images includes a minimum grouping of quality building images to construct at least a partial multi-dimensional building model representing the plurality of captured building images, where the at least a partial multidimensional building model includes surfaces shown in the minimum grouping of quality building images; and creating at least a partial multidimensional building model based at least partially on the base set of quality building images. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of graphical guides comprise 3D graphical guides. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of graphical guides comprise 2D graphical guides. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the alignment of the building object with the orientation of the overlay guide occurs on the capture device display. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of building images is captured by a portable camera. 6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the portable camera includes any of: a smartphone, a tablet computer, a wearable computer, or a drone. 7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the building images are any of: exterior building images or interior building images. 8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein building images being captured include at least a first corner and one or more sides of the building object. 9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the quality building image comprising the building object aligned with the orientation of the overlay guide comprises the building object substantially aligned with the orientation of the overlay guide. 10 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by a system comprising one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising: overlaying, on a capture device display, at least one of a plurality of graphical guides; capturing, by the capture device, a plurality of building images concurrent with displaying the at least one of the plurality of graphical guides; determining when a base set of quality building images has been captured, wherein a quality building image comprises a building object aligned with an orientation of the overlay guide and wherein the base set of quality building images includes a minimum grouping of quality building images to construct at least a partial multi-dimensional building model representing the plurality of captured building images, where the at least a partial multidimensional building model includes surfaces shown in the minimum grouping of quality building images; and creating at least a partial multidimensional building model based at least partially on the base set of quality building images. 11 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of graphical guides comprise 3D graphical guides. 12 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of graphical guides comprise 2D graphical guides. 13 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the alignment of the building object with the orientation of the overlay guide occurs on the capture device display. 14 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of building images is captured by a portable camera. 15 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the portable camera includes any of: a smartphone, a tablet computer, a wearable computer, or a drone. 16 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the building images are any of: exterior building images or interior building images. 17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein building images being captured include at least a first corner and one or more sides of the building object. 18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the quality building image comprising the building object aligned with the orientation of the overlay guide comprises the building object substantially aligned with the orientation of the overlay guide.
