Official abstract text for this publication.
An example system comprises a water-soluble unit dose article comprising a fibrous non-woven sheet shaped to form a sealed internal compartment and a granular laundry detergent comprised within the internal compartment. The sheet comprises fibres which comprise polyvinyl alcohol polymer. The granular laundry detergent comprises perfume particles. The system also comprises sealing jaws, whereby at least one of the sealing jaws is a heated sealing jaw. A top seal of the internal compartment is sandwiched between the jaws. A first of said jaws comprises a protruding portion along a longitudinal direction of the seal. The protruding portion has a base along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the seal. The base has a dimension of more than 3 times and of less than 20 times a thickness of the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet.

What is claimed is: 1 . A system comprising: a water-soluble unit dose article comprising a water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet and a granular laundry detergent, wherein the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet is shaped to form a sealed internal compartment, wherein the granular laundry detergent is comprised within said internal compartment, wherein the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet comprises a plurality of fibres, wherein the fibres comprise polyvinyl alcohol polymer, and wherein the granular laundry detergent comprises a plurality of particles, wherein the plurality of particles comprise perfume particles, wherein the perfume particles comprise perfume; and sealing jaws, whereby at least one of the sealing jaws is a heated sealing jaw, whereby a top seal of the sealed internal compartment is sandwiched between the jaws, whereby a first of said jaws comprises a protruding portion along a longitudinal direction of the seal, the protruding portion having a base along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the seal, the base having a dimension of more than about 3 times a thickness of the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet and of less than about 20 times the thickness of the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet. 2 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the sealing jaws comprise a pair of heated sealing jaws facing each other. 3 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby a section of the protruding portion along a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the seal comprises a bead shape protruding from the base. 4 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the first of said jaws is a heated jaw. 5 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby a second of said jaws faces the first of said jaws, whereby the second of said jaws comprises a flat portion facing at least part of the protruding portion. 6 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the sealing jaws have a length along the longitudinal direction of the seal at least about 2.5% longer than a length of the seal along the longitudinal direction of the seal. 7 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the granular laundry detergent comprises perfume particles having a median particle size range of less than about 100 microns and of more than about 5 microns. 8 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the granular laundry detergent comprised within said internal compartment weighs more than about 5 grams and less than about 200 grams. 9 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the thickness of the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet is of less than about 0.4 mm and of more than about 0.1 mm. 10 . The system according to claim 1 , whereby the protruding portion comprises a removable layer in contact with the top seal, the removable layer having a surface energy of less than about 19×10 −5 N per centimeter. 11 . A process to operate a system according to claim 1 , comprising: forming a sleeve comprising the water-soluble fibrous non-woven sheet; transversally sealing the sleeve by maintaining the sealing jaws closed across the sleeve to form a bottom seal; in response to forming the bottom seal, filling the internal compartment with the granular laundry detergent; opening the sealing jaws and letting the filled internal compartment slide between and beyond the open sealing jaws; and in response to the sliding of the filled internal compartment beyond the open sealing jaws, transversally sealing the sleeve by maintaining the sealing jaws closed across the sleeve to form the top seal. 12 . The process according to claim 11 , whereby the protruding portion reaches a temperature of more than about 180° C. and of less than about 250° C. during seal forming. 13 . The process according to claim 11 whereby the protruding portion comprises a removable layer in contact with the top seal, the removable layer having a surface energy of less than about 19×10 −5 N per centimeter, the process further comprising replacing the removable layer after forming at least about 5,000 filled water-soluble unit dose articles. 14 . The process according to claim 11 , the process comprising letting the granular laundry detergent settle in the internal compartment by maintaining the sealing jaws open for at least about 50 ms after sliding of the filled internal compartment beyond the open sealing jaws and before forming the top seal. 15 . The process according to claim 11 , whereby the sealing of the filled water-soluble unit dose article using the jaws to form the top seal comprises cutting, by the sealing jaws, the top seal along the longitudinal direction of the seal.
