Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An optical filter may include a set of optical filter layers disposed onto a substrate. The set of optical filter layers may include a first subset of optical filter layers comprising a first material with a first refractive index. The first material may comprise at least silicon and hydrogen. The set of optical filter layers may include a second subset of optical filter layers comprising a second material with a second refractive index. The second material is different from the first material and the second refractive index is less than the first refractive index. The set of optical filter layers may include a third subset of optical filter layers comprising a third material different from the first material and the second material.

What is claimed is: 1 . An optical filter, comprising: a first layer including a first material, the first material including at least silicon and hydrogen; a second layer including a second material that is different from the first material, the second material including an oxide, and the second layer being adjacent to the first layer; a third layer including a third material that is different from the first material and the second material, the third material including at least tantalum, and the third layer being adjacent to the second layer; and a fourth layer including the second material, the second material in the fourth layer being adjacent to the third layer. 2 . The optical filter of claim 1 , wherein the first material is a hydrogenated silicon (Si:H) based material. 3 . The optical filter of claim 1 , wherein the second material is a silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ) based material. 4 . The optical filter of claim 1 , wherein the third material is a tantalum pentoxide (Ta 2 O 5 ) based material. 5 . The optical filter of claim 1 , further comprising: a substrate that is adjacent to the first layer. 6 . The optical filter of claim 1 , further comprising: a fifth layer that is adjacent to the fourth layer. 7 . The optical filter of claim 6 , wherein the fifth layer includes the first material. 8 . The optical filter of claim 6 , further comprising: a sixth layer that is adjacent to the fourth layer. 9 . The optical filter of claim 8 , wherein the sixth layer includes the second material. 10 . The optical filter of claim 8 , further comprising: a seventh layer that is adjacent to the sixth layer and includes the third material. 11 . An optical filter, comprising: a first layer including a first material, the first material including an oxide; a second layer including a second material that is different from the first material, the second material including at least one of a tantalum pentoxide (Ta 2 O 5 ) material, a magnesium fluoride (MgF 2 ) material, a zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ) material, or an yttrium oxide (Y 2 O 3 ) material, and the second layer being adjacent to the first layer; and a third layer including the first material, the third layer being a different layer from the first layer, and the first material in the third layer being adjacent to the second material in the second layer. 12 . The optical filter of claim 11 , wherein the second material is the tantalum pentoxide (Ta 2 O 5 ) material. 13 . The optical filter of claim 11 , wherein the first material includes at least silicon. 14 . The optical filter of claim 11 , wherein the first material is a silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ) material. 15 . The optical filter of claim 11 , further comprising: a fourth layer adjacent to the third layer. 16 . The optical filter of claim 15 , wherein the fourth layer includes a third material that is different from the first material and the second material. 17 . The optical filter of claim 16 , wherein the third material is a hydrogenated silicon (Si:H) material. 18 . An optical filter, comprising: a first layer including a first material, the first material including at least silicon and hydrogen; a second layer including a second material that is different from the first material, the second material including an oxide, and the second layer being adjacent to the first layer; and a third layer including a third material that is different from the first material and the second material, the third material in the third layer being adjacent to the second material in the second layer. 19 . The optical filter of claim 18 , wherein the first material is a hydrogenated silicon (Si:H) based material, and wherein the second material is a silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ) based material. 20 . The optical filter of claim 18 , further comprising: a substrate that is adjacent to the first layer.
